Kingdom Hearts 4: Everything we know so far

Tiger and Bunny 10

Kingdom Hearts is not an unfamiliar name to hardcore gamers worldwide, especially when it has been more than 20 years since it first came out. With characters like Sora and Heartless along with Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy all together, it is pretty much evident that it is a joint venture between Square Enix and The Walt Disney Company and is being directed by Tetsuya Nomura, who has ties with Square Enix for a long time.

Since the last game, Kingdom Hearts 3, came out in 2019, gamers have been speculating the possibility of a new installment of the franchise, the confirmation of which has been recently released.

Here’s everything we know about Kingdom Hearts 4:

Kingdom Hearts 4 Release Date

Square Enix hasn’t yet announced the release date for the game. However, we can expect it to hit 2023 even at the earliest. All we can do is keep our fingers crossed as Kingdom Hearts 3 came out six years after the initial announcement, so we can just hope that it doesn’t take as long this time.

Kingdom Hearts 4 Platforms

Though there haven’t been any confirmations regarding the gaming platforms, it is most likely that this Disney-oriented RPG will be introduced on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S | X, and PC.

The developers took to Twitter and released two new logos on the official handle of Kingdom Hearts. As per the post, Square Enix is releasing two games, namely Kingdom Hearts 4 and Kingdom Hearts Missing Link. The logos are clear cut impeccable and are giving us a super strong feeling that the games will be the same.

Kingdom Hearts 4 Trailer

Kingdom Hearts released three new trailers on the occasion of its 20th anniversary. The three games are Kingdom Hearts Union Dark Road, Kingdom Hearts Missing Link, and Kingdom Hearts 4. All three trailers are a part of a single released video.

The trailer is set in Quadratum (a world introduced in Kingdom Hearts 3), which looks like modern-day Tokyo, equally developed and equipped, and bustling. The animation is just so realistic, and the details are impeccable. The trailer confirms the return of Sora, wielding her Keyblade, and Strelitzia is introduced as a new character. We can also expect Donald Duck and Goofy to come back in order to aid Sora during her battles. The storyline is titled Lost Master Arc, which, trust us, will be epic.

Kingdom Hearts Gameplay

Kingdom Hearts is an action role-playing video game that particularly emphasizes combat with melee-based weapons. With the help of cutscenes, it has been given a storytelling format. For the unversed, Cutscene means the unskippable scenes which are used to show conversations between the players, set the mood, and give further information regarding the new and upcoming gameplay elements.

The protagonist of the series is Sora, a cheerful teen who lives in Destiny Islands. She goes on a journey to see the other worlds with his childhood friends Kairi and Riku. During the journey, the three get separated, and Sora finds her weapon, Keyblade. He is then recruited by Donald Duck and Goofy to journey with them across the worlds and aid their king, Mickey mouse, while he looks for his lost friends. Throughout their travels, they save the worlds from entities that seem to be a threat to their existence.
