Kourtney Kardashian opens up about her “terrifying” fetal surgery for the first time!

On Thursday, during the season 5 premiere of “The Kardashians,” Kourtney talked about her surgery, telling her audience the whole story behind it.

“We had planned a scan at home, so all the kids could see the baby, and Travis was about to leave for tour,” she said, before adding, “The doctor who will come to the house to do the scan is a high-risk doctor who is really detailed and thorough, and something caught his eye where he wanted me to see a couple of specialists.”

According to her revelations, the problem was something “super-rare” and was not “age-related” or because of some mistake that she made.

Her fear of the surgery, which she described as “terrifying” multiplied because her husband was not there with her. Barker urgently had to fly back to California, leaving the European leg of his tour, in September 2023, which he later explained was because of her wife’s urgent surgery.

Kourtney revealed that she couldn’t get in touch with Travis, while he was coming back home, saying that “His Wi-Fi was broken on the plane so the whole time he couldn’t get updates. He couldn’t get anything. He kept checking every two hours,” also adding that “By the time he got home, I had already had my surgery because they had to do it right away. So my mom took me and Travis came to the hospital as soon as he landed. He slept at the hospital with me.”

The star also praised the healthcare team involved in her surgery by saying, “It was quick. The timing of it was miraculous. That saved everything. I just feel so grateful how everything played out and for the doctors who really helped make the best decisions that saved our baby.”

She further added, “So many people were so grateful that I posted something about it because they said so many people don’t feel comfortable even telling their friends or their family because they are worried they did something wrong,” talking about her audience.

“Because of the emergency fetal surgery that I had to have, I am now mostly on bed rest because there’s a hole in the amniotic sac where they had to go in during the surgery. I am not allowed to drive or stand for more than 20 minutes. I am really not leaving the house,” she revealed about the consequences of the surgery.

The star also took to her Instagram in September 2023, to thank her healthcare team, her husband, and her mom by writing, “I will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby’s life. I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock. And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this. As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery.”

“I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear. I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant. Praise be to God. Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing,” she added.

Kourtney is also mom to Mason, 14, Penelope, 11, and Reign, 9, with ex Scott Disick, while Travis shares daughter, Alabama Luella Barker, 18, and son Landon Asher Barker, 20 with his ex-wife Shanna Moakler.
