Lady Gaga is identified with a lot of things, but certainly not for pulling the plug on her live shows at the last minute. But there’s always a first time for everything.

On September 3, Lady Gaga had to postpone her “Mayhem Ball” show in Miami just minutes before it was scheduled to kick off, according to Variety. Citing vocal strain as the cause behind the postponement, the Judas singer had to call off the show on the recommendations of her doctor and her vocal coach.

Gaga was scheduled to perform at Miami’s Kaseya Center. Owing to the unexpected change, the venue publicly shared the announcement on their Instagram post. It read:

“Unfortunately, tonight’s performance at The Mayhem Ball has been postponed. During her warmup tonight, Lady Gaga experienced significant vocal strain and has been advised by her ENT and vocal coach not to perform.”

However, the venue has not shared any refund information or rescheduled dates as of September 3, 2025.

The 39-year-old singer also took to her Instagram stories to apologize to her fans about this unprecedented incident and added that she is trying to reschedule the show “as soon as possible.”

She began to write, “Hi everyone I am really so so sorry but I need to postpone tonight’s show in Miami. During rehearsal last night and my vocal warmup tonight my voice was extremely strained and both my Dr. and vocal coach have advised me not to go on because of the risk it poses.”

The A Star is Born actress further explicated that she wanted to be impervious to it and continue the show, but she couldn’t take the risk of permanently damaging her vocal cords.

“There is a significant risk based on all our combined experience with a show like ours and as you know I sing live every night — and even though this was a hard and agonizing decision I would be more afraid of the long term implications on my voice.”

Explaining that she takes “serious care” of herself and her voice “to be able to put on this demanding show”, she reiterated her apology to her fans, stating, “I love my fans so much, respect you and hope you can accept my sincere regretful apology”, and further addressed how this postponement is a “disappointment, let down, inconvenience” for her as well.

Although the fans expressed their concerns over the singer’s vocal health, they also showcased their outrage towards the management of the situation. One of the fans wrote in the comment section, “Hope Gaga gets better, but y’all handled this horribly. Do better.”

According to Variety, her show was the last of the three in her “Mayhem Ball” tour in Miami, which took off in July at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena. Per the news outlet, she has two more shows lined up on Saturday as well as Sunday at Madison Square Garden, along with her MTV Video Music Awards performance on Sunday. Currently, it’s not clear whether she will be able to perform or not on these scheduled days.

NBC News reports that the tour will be traversing New York City next, followed by conducting shows in north up Toronto, with finally signing off in Chicago.

It seems that this year, the relationship between Lady Gaga and the stage is slightly jinxed. Earlier this year, according to Page Six, the Poker Face singer accidentally tumbled on the stage, but thanks to her panache, she stood back up like a pro.

Based on a viral fan video, the singer was trying to help the cameraman from falling, but the bodyguard helped him regain his balance. However, as the singer walked past them, she lost her balance and fell on the floor. Without losing the rhythm or the lyrics, Gaga pulled herself up and continued to sing.

Later, the Grammy-awarded winner is set to trot the globe with her “Mayhem Ball” tour in Australia, Europe, and Asia, concluding it with the final performance in Sydney on December 13.
