The series shows no signs of slowing down, and the next season promises to be it’s most thrilling yet! Continue reading to find out more about Law & Order: SVU Season 25.
We are aware of how much the fans have been awaiting its comeback, but we have some unfortunate news to share with you! We hate to break this update to our readers, but one thing is pretty much clear: the new season of Law & Order: SVU will not be returning in June 2023, as NBC recently started releasing their summer lineup in which Law & Order: SVU Season 25 was not mentioned, which is a bit disappointing.
That’s not all! If you streamed the last season, then you’ll know that the 24th season finished airing only a few days ago, so it’s reasonable that it won’t be back next month.
Moreover, if you have been following Law & Order for years, then you’ll know that the network usually takes a break for a few months for the summer season after the premiere of each season of Law & Order from September to May. So, the new season will also follow in the footsteps of its predecessors and go on a short hiatus. Even though this is a bit of a disheartening update, we do some other updates that will lighten up your mood!
Firstly, we can tell that you’re on high alert right now since NBC confirmed the series renewal for a 25th season on April 10, 2023. So, we would like to clear up the fact that there is no doubt that the beloved crime drama television series will be making its official return sometime later this year, which is assumed to be a part of the 2023–2024 broadcast season lineup, with the creators aiming for the show’s return on a 2023 fall release, with September being the likely release window.
Hence, there is no way that the new season will return in June 2023!
We’ll just have to wait and see which direction the writers and crew take going forward, as the ongoing writer’s strike can also be a major factor in shifting the release date if the issue isn’t resolved soon. In the meantime, check out the official announcement as shared by the show’s Twitter handle, quoting, “Thanks for joining us for an exceptional season finale! #LawAndOrder and #SVU return Thursdays this fall and #OrganizedCrime returns in 2024 only on @nbc and streaming on @peacock.”

Law & Order: SVU Season 25: What can the fans expect to see in the new season?
The synopsis of the show follows: This groundbreaking series from executive producer Dick Wolf’s “Law & Order” franchise chronicles the ripped-from-the-headlines investigations of the NYPD’s Special Victims Unit. Led by courageous and compassionate Capt. Olivia Benson, this elite team includes Sgt. Odafin Tutuola, Detective Amanda Rollins, Officer Katriona Tamin, and Deputy Chief Christian Garland, focus on finding justice for the victims of the city’s worst crimes. Assisting them is ADA Sonny Carisi, who seeks justice for SVU’s victims and survivors with passion and precision.
“I’m pleased to continue my four-decade relationship with Universal Television and NBC,” Dick Wolf said in a statement of his own. Further adding, “All six shows being picked up again is the ultimate accolade to our incredible casts, producers, and writers. I’d also like to thank our loyal fans who have kept our NBC shows on the air for what will be a cumulative 84 seasons.”
We are certain that the next season will definitely pick up elements from the final episode of Law & Order: SVU Season 24, “All Pain Is One Malady,” which is directed by Norberto Barba and written by David Graziano & Julie Martin. In the episode, viewers got to see that in the search for a revenge-for-hire crime ring, Benson and Stabler combine forces on a case that has now spread globally. Fin and Bruno help a victim assaulted a second time, and Jet’s plan to hack the dark web backfires and puts the team in danger.
The main cast includes Mariska Hargitay as Captain Olivia Benson, Kelli Giddish as Senior Detective Amanda Rollins, Ice-T as Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola, Peter Scanavino as Assistant District Attorney Dominick “Sonny” Carisi, Jr., Octavio Pisano as Junior Detective Joe Velasco, Molly Burnett as Junior Detective Grace Muncy. The season is produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television. The new showrunner is David Graziano replacing Warren Leight, and Burnett left the main cast after the season finale.
“We understand the emotional connection our audience has with these characters and we can’t wait to bring more of their stories to the forefront next season,” Lisa Katz, the president of scripted programming at NBCUniversal and Streaming, said in a statement. Further adding, “A huge thank you to Dick and his amazing team who are the masters of producing incredibly compelling television week after week.”
So, it’s time to grab your badge and get ready to fight for what’s right, because Law & Order: SVU Season 25 is about to take you on a wild ride you won’t forget.
