Rihanna’s fans are excited as she is all set to make her comeback to the music industry after a hiatus of six years. Recently, multiple reports stated that her first single is going to be a part of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. For the unversed, the song is titled Life Me Up and was released on all global music platforms on October 28, 2022. Rihanna had earlier confirmed the same on her social media handle. The song is said to be a tribute to the life and legacy of the late Chadwick Boseman, who played the titular role in the Marvel movie.

The official song

Did you know that Rihanna was teasing her fans mercilessly with ‘R’ hints when attending the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s world premiere in LA? She attended the event with her boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, this week.

There is no denying that Rihanna’s vocal prowess takes over the soulful track that will make you remember Chadwick Boseman. Songwriter Tems, who co-wrote the song with Rihanna, Ludwig Göransson, and the movie’s director Ryan Coogler spoke candidly about Lift Me Up in a recent press release. According to People, here is what Tems said: “After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them. Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honour.”

The track

‘Lift Me Up’ also marks Rihanna’s first-ever musical debut since 2016. As mentioned earlier, the track is a tribute to the extraordinary life and legacy of the late Chadwick Boseman, who played the role of King T’Challa in the Black Panther. Boseman, who played the titular role in the film and appeared in multiple Avengers movies, passed away in 2020 following his battle with cancer. Talking about the upcoming song, it has been written by Nigerian singer-songwriter Tems and produced by Ludwig Göransson, including Black Panther’s director Ryan Coogler.

Neeraj Chopra and Black Panther

The Indian MCU fans were more than happy to see javelin champion Neeraj Chopra share a video recently in which he embodied the spirit of the Wakandan superhero. Here is what Chopra said, “Black Panther is about a fierce warrior, a hero who is willing to give everything to fight for his people and his country. As an athlete, representing India is our biggest opportunity and we give our best shot and fight till the end. I’m truly overjoyed that I can be a part of this journey and just like Black Panther, I hope to inspire people around the globe to never give up on your dreams. Being a huge Marvel fan, I just cannot wait to watch the film and discover the new journey of Wakanda!”
