We’ve got the latest updates regarding its release date, cast and more. Continue to know more.
What is the official release date of Locke & Key Season 3?
As per the announcements made during Netflix’s Geeked Week, Locke & Key Season 3 is set to release on August 10, 2022, which is less than a month away. Yay! The gap between Season 2 and Season 3 of this series is less than a year, which means that the filming of the final season began before Season 2 even premiered. So, one might conclude that the plot in Season 3 will probably begin where season 2 exactly left off, with little to no time difference.
Who is the cast in Locke & Key Season 3?
The core ensemble of the series is confirmed to reprise their roles in the third season. This includes:
Connor Jessup as Tyler Locke
Emilia Jones as Kinsey Locke
Jackson Robert Scott as Bode Locke
Darby Stanchfield as Nina Locke
Aaron Ashmore as Duncan Locke
Apart from this core cast, the team will also include:
Petrice Jones as Scot Cavendish
Brendan Hines as Josh Bennett
Kevin Durand as Frederick Gideon
Laysla De Oliveira as the demon Dodge
Sherri Saum as Ellie
Coby Bird as Rufus
These characters are confirmed to reprise their respective roles in season 3. However, one fan favourite actor, Griffin Gluck, who played the role of Gabe in the first two seasons, is yet to be confirmed for season 3, since his body went missing after the cliffside battle.
Locke & Key Season 3 Plot
Season 2 ended on an intense cliffhanger. With Gabe’s cliffside house plummeting and his body vanishing from the face of the earth, the Locke family finds itself in a conundrum of what to believe and what not to believe. Based on how things concluded in season 2, the upcoming season will be like the aftermath of the decisions taken by the characters. So, for instance, in season 2 Eden used the Echo Key to get back Gideon as an echo. Not only that, but Nina used the Memory Key to jog up her memory and try to remember everything. Amidst all of this chaos, the family dynamics are expected to alter.
Meredith Averill, the co-showrunner of the series, told Collider, ‘The third season focuses much more heavily on the family. They’re gonna face the greatest threat they’ve had to face yet. That really bonds them in a way that we’ve never seen before.’
Considering the glimpses of Locke & Key season 3 gleaned from the trailer, one can infer the upcoming season is a deviation from the comic book story.
Is Locke & Key Season 3 the final season?
According to Deadline, Locke & Key Season 3 is unfortunately confirmed to be the final season, owing to the plan of both Netflix and the showrunners Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill. Addressing the number of seasons that Locke & Key should have, the showrunners said, ‘Once we began working on the series, we felt three seasons was the ideal length to bring the story of the Locke family and their Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying conclusion. ‘
In addition to this, they expressed their gratitude towards the opportunity of telling their version of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s ‘incredible story’ the way they wanted to. ‘We’re keeping the magical keys, though for our own personal use.’
A few cast members also shared their goodbyes to the series and their colleagues in the form of Instagram posts.
