The basic premise of the series according to Netflix states, “In London, where the most gifted teenage ghost-hunters venture nightly into perilous combat with deadly spirits, amidst the many corporate, adult-run agencies, one stands alone: independent of any commercial imperative or adult supervision – a tiny startup, run by two teenage boys and a newly arrived, supremely psychically gifted girl, a renegade trio destined to unravel a mystery that will change the course of history: Lockwood & Co.”

According to Collider, quote, “Lockwood & Co follows three teenage ghost hunters in the midst of a haunting epidemic in London. Two gifted boys and a girl displaying “extraordinary psychic abilities” (think along the lines of Eleven from Stranger Things) make up the trio. Lucy Carlyle (Ruby Stokes), the young psychic, joins forces with two gifted boys Anthony Lockwood (Cameron Chapman) and George Cubbins (Ali Hadji-Heshmati) at their small startup company Lockwood & Co. The no-adults-allowed company task themselves with keeping the streets of London safe, battling with evil undead spirits night after night.” 

According to Deadline, Rachael Prior, Big Talk Head of Film, and Kenton Allen, Big Talk CEO, say they “feel a great affinity” with the Lockwood books’ “distinct Britishness, innovative world building, vibrantly drawn characters and joyful command of genre.” The TV series will be “a highly original, distinctively authored, ghost-detective show to enthrall audiences of all ages.” Stroud is “hopping with delight at the prospect of Lockwood being brought to the screen by Big Talk… Their unique sensibility blends comedy, adventure and horror beautifully, and is in perfect synthesis with Lockwood’s world. I can’t wait for us to take up our rapiers, salt bombs and iron chains and get to work.”

The main cast members of the series are Ruby Stokes as Lucy Carlyle, Cameron Chapman as Anthony Lockwood, Ali Hadji-Heshmati as George Cubbins, Ivanno Jeremiah as Inspector Barnes, Luke Treadaway as The Golden Blade, Morven Christie as Penelope Fittes, Jack Bandeira as Quill Kipps, Ben Crompton as Julius Winkman, Hayley Konadu as Flo Bones, Rhianna Dorris as Kat Godwin, Paddy Holland as Bobby Vernon, and Rico Vina as Ned Shaw.

The deal was brokered by Charlotte Knight of Knight Hall Agency on behalf of Laura Cecil Literary Agency. Additionally, Cornish will serve as the lead writer and director with Nira Park, Rachael Prior, and Cornish serving as executive producers. William MacGregor was also involved in directing several episodes. Ed Hime, Kara Smith, and Joy Wilkinson serve as writers on the series.

The series will have 8 episodes with an average runtime of 60 minutes which will ultimately tell the theme that the show intends to convey to the audience. As of November 14, 2022, Netflix has not revealed the exact episode titles or synopsis, which will be revealed as the premiere date approaches. However, it is expected to make its debut on the same day, allowing viewers to binge-watch without having to wait for new episodes every week.
