My mother had told me about a saying in Italy, “Il primo amore non si scorda mai”. “You never forget your first love.”  – Lina Emerson

Love & Gelato is a romantic comedy-drama based on Jenna Evans Welch’s bestselling YA novel. The story follows a young woman, Lina Emerson, who is moving to college but first must deal with the fact that her mother is dying. Before her death, her mother has a wish for her daughter, she wants Lina to go to Rome and get to know her father.

Lina is less than enthusiastic about the idea as she doesn’t want to meet someone who hasn’t wanted anything to do with her for her whole life. But, to fulfill her mother’s dying wish, she visits Italy, and while in that city, she finds art, gelato, some mysteries about her mother’s past, her father, an unexpected romance, and most importantly, herself.

The movie was released on June 22, 2022, and it is full of romance and new adventures. It is a sentimental love story that warms audiences’ hearts and dealing with the past of her mother and a quest to find herself makes Lina a likable protagonist. Viewers are wondering if the makers will decide to take up the other books in the series for adaptation or if will it be the only one.

Here’s everything you need to know about Love & Gelato 2.

Will there be a sequel to Love & Gelato?

There’s no announcement regarding the sequel of the movie as of now. But this isn’t surprising as the first movie has just been released. We expect the makers to announce the sequel after looking into the reviews, ratings, and performance of the first movie. The movie is an adaptation of the novel by Jenna Evans Welch and there are two more books in the Love and Gelato series, Love and Luck, and, Love and Olives. It is not confirmed if the creators will adapt all the books in the series or not, but if the first movie performs well, we might get to see Addie’s story soon.

Love & Gelato 2

Love & Gelato 2 Plot

If the makers decide to adapt the second book, Love and Luck, in the series, we will get to see Addie’s story next. The official synopsis of the second book reads,

“I wanted this to be real life, not a detour….”

Addie is visiting Ireland for her aunt’s over-the-top destination wedding and hoping she can stop thinking about the one horrible thing that left her miserable and heartbroken—and threatens her future. But her brother, Ian, isn’t about to let her forget, and his constant needling leads to arguments and even a fistfight between the two once-inseparable siblings. But when Addie discovers an unusual guidebook, Ireland for the Heartbroken, hidden in the dusty shelves of the hotel library, she’s finally able to escape her anxious mind—and Ian’s criticism. And then their travel plans change. Suddenly Addie finds herself on a whirlwind tour of the Emerald Isle, trapped in the world’s smallest vehicle with Ian and his admittedly cute Irish-accented friend Rowan. As the trio journeys over breathtaking green hills, past countless castles, and through a number of fairy-tale forests, Addie hopes her guidebook will heal not only her broken heart but also her shattered relationship with her brother.

That is if they don’t get completely lost along the way.”
