When will Thomas Magnum, the charismatic private investigator, return? Here is everything we know so far about
Magnum P.I. Season 5 Part 2.
The anticipation of binge-watching the remaining ten episodes has not died down as the viewers are craving more drama with heart-pounding action, gripping mysteries, and a dash of Hawaiian charm that this iconic series has been able to captivate audiences worldwide, which has surprisingly lived up to the hype for being a reboot series that was adapted from the original series of the same name created by Donald P. Bellisario and Glen A. Larson, which aired from 1980 to 1988.
The series has been able to gather major interest, which has caused the fans to unravel all the character arcs, which have been filled with unexpected twists and turns. So, if you are curious to know it all, then don’t worry! You have reached the right spot! For your convenience, we at Web News Observer have compiled a brief summary of everything you need to know, which includes the potential release date, plotline, cast, and other details about Magnum P.I. Season 5 Part 2.
Magnum P.I. Season 5 Part 2 Release Date: Will the remaining episodes return in July 2023?
Right now, there is nothing for the fandom to worry about as the chance for the viewers of this beloved crime action series to stream the second part of the fifth season is a long way off as the series will not be streaming its remaining 10 episodes in July 2023 or anytime later this year!
Yes, it’s true, as the show is currently on a midseason break, which is expected to last for a while, as the network has officially confirmed that the remaining ten episodes will be making their comeback midseason/summer 2024, at the same time slot every Sunday at 9:00 PM ET on NBC. Even though the release date might not have been affected by the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, it may have played a major role in hindering the rollout of this year’s lineup for the fall television season.
This delayed release, which is set for next year, is good as it won’t cause disruption in the production of the series, as the current writer’s strike doesn’t seem to come to an end anytime soon due to which the filming has been stopping on a halt just like another majority of NBC series so it’s a positive sign that everything has been scheduled in advance to deal with all these hurdles as there is a possibility of an actor’s strike also happening in the near future!
As there is an ongoing dispute between SAG-AFTRA and AMPTP so, if for some reason they can’t come to an agreement before the guild announces that the contract expires on July 12, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. PDT, for which just a few hours are left, it can cause an actor strike, which would have caused more delays if the official release window was aimed to set for the fall season of NBC’s 2023-24 television primetime broadcast schedule which was earlier confirmed to be the case!
In the meantime, check out the official post also confirming the release window for the fifth season’s second part as shared on the Twitter handle among their followers, quoting, “More action is on the way, ohana. Season 5 of Magnum P.I. is returning in 2024.”

Magnum P.I. Season 5 Part 2 Plot: What to expect?
The series is a modern take on the classic series centering on Thomas Magnum, who is a decorated former Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, becomes a private investigator in Hawaii. A charming troublemaker and a die-hard Detroit Tigers fan, Magnum solve tough cases with his ex-MI6 partner Juliet Higgins, and when he needs backup, he calls on his trusted buddies and fellow POW survivors, T.C. and Rick, to bring the heat.
With keys to a Ferrari in one hand, aviator sunglasses in the other, and a few Mai Tais on the way, Thomas Magnum is always on the case. The fifth season saw Magnum (Jay Hernandez) and Higgins (Perdita Weeks) finally make their romance official. Magnum, who was previously known as a lady’s man, changed his womanizing ways, committing himself to Higgins. Now that the cat is out of the bag, what will upcoming episodes hold for the future of Magnum and Higgins’ relationship?
*Spoiler Alert*
In an interview with NBC Insider, showrunner Eric Guggenheim stated, “What’s fun is that these are two very different people. They have similar experiences and similar trauma in their past, and that connects them, but their approach as investigators, they have different approaches. Their personalities are a little different,” he told us. “Magnum is romantic and more of a risk taker and Higgins is very guarded. If you had two characters who are very similar, it would make for a very boring relationship and some very boring scenes. But because these characters are so different that just makes for fantastic chemistry.”
He added, “We’ve really lucked out, where two actors just have amazing chemistry. When you get that, you’re incredibly fortunate. It doesn’t always work out that way on shows, but we’re lucky that from the very first episode, you saw that there was a spark between these two characters. And that the two actors just had some undeniable chemistry.”
Moreover, the second part of the fifth season is expected to continue the plotlines for the final round from the 10th episode, “Charlie Foxtrot,” which was released on April 23, 2023, and viewed by 3.12 million US viewers. The episode is directed by Lisa Robinson and written by David Wolkove. In the episode, viewers saw T.C. lay bleeding out from a gunshot wound. Rick is taken hostage, but not before he is able to get a message to Magnum that the mercenaries who are set on avenging the death of Ahmad Hadid are after all of them.
Magnum gets the message just in time to thwart an attack at Robin’s Nest. Juliette is able to identify the mastermind of the plot as Nadine Amherst, who was once Hadid’s handler before forming a romantic bond with him and then giving birth to their son after Hadid was killed. Magnum engineers a prison escape for one of the mercenaries, knowing the man will lead them to Nadine and Rick. Magnum, Higgins, Gordon, and HPD are able to rescue Rick while taking down Nadine and her cohorts. T.C. wakes up in a hospital alive but unable to feel his legs or feet.
Magnum P.I. Season 5 Part 2 Cast: Who will reprise their roles?
The main cast includes Jay Hernandez as Thomas Magnum, Perdita Weeks as Juliet Higgins, Zachary Knighton as Orville “Rick” Wright, Stephen Hill as Theodore “T.C.” Calvin, Amy Hill as Teuila “Kumu” Tuileta, and Tim Kang as suspended Honolulu Police Department (HPD) Detective Gordon Katsumoto. The recurring cast includes Michael Rady as HPD Detective Chris Childs, Bobby Lee as Jin Jeong, James Remar as Captain Buck Greene, Michael DeLara as M.E. Gabriel Santos, Lee Anne Kuper as HPD Officer Lee, and Christopher Thornton as Kenny “Shammy” Shamberg.
The series is a reboot of the original series of the same name created by Donald P. Bellisario and Glen A. Larson, which aired from 1980 to 1988. Magnum P.I. is an American action drama television series developed by Peter M. Lenkov and Eric Guggenheim. Additionally, Magnum P.I. is a marquee title in Universal’s TV library. It is also a rare broadcast drama with a Latino lead. The series is a co-production between Universal TV and CBS Studios, which have split rights, with Universal TV handling international and CBS spearheading domestic off-network sales.

Magnum P.I. Season 5: Is it the final season?
On June 23, 2023, it was announced that the fifth season would be its final season. If you recall, initially, NBC officially picked up the series for 20 episodes, which were aimed to be split over two 10-episode seasons with the option for more episodes. At the time, it was reported that the executive producers would return, and CBS Studios and Universal TV would continue to co-produce the series.
But later, it was clarified that the twenty episodes would be split as a two-part fifth season rather than into two separate seasons, which leaves any chances of the sixth season renewal off the table. As there are many fans who are still hoping that Netflix might give the series another chance by reviving it for their streaming platform, but to be very honest, the chances seem very bleak at the moment.
