Mayans M.C. Season 5: Is it the final season?

Yes, the journey of Mayans M.C. is coming to an end with the fifth season. The end of “Mayans M.C.” will be marked by Season 5, according to FX Content and FX Productions Chairman John Landgraf, who made the announcement at the beginning of the network’s presentation at the Television Critics Association’s winter 2023 press tour.

According to Variety, “In addition to the renewal, Karey Burke, president of 20th Television, a division of Disney Television Studios, also shared that James had reached a new multiyear deal with the company.” “Elgin is a visionary leader who has managed the nearly impossible task of being in multiple places at one time as director, showrunner, and writer on his brilliant ‘Mayans M.C.,'” Burke said in a statement.

Mayans M.C. will be returning to your television screen for another season soon! The network has aired all the episodes of the fourth season, which ended on June 14, 2022. After a few weeks, in July 2022, the series was renewed for a fifth season. We would like to highlight that the exact release date of the final season has not been revealed yet. If we have to guess, the most likely time frame for the fifth season premiere date will be sometime around March 2023 to April 2023, considering the release date pattern of the last two seasons. Of course, this is just speculation and FX will confirm the official release date in the following months. Until then, fans should keep an eye on it.

The conclusion of the series is unsurprising, as co-creator Elgin James has said publicly that he’d already planned what the finale would look like. “We know where it ends,” he told Variety at the red carpet premiere of Season 4. “I know the very last shot. So, it’s not in Season 4 so I’m just going to say, there at least has to be one more. But we know exactly where it ends and we have been headed there for a while now.” The official Twitter handle of the show also shared the news, which was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con 2022 by quoting, “Rev up those engines because the club is back for more. #MayansMC will return to @FXNetworks for a fifth season in 2023.” Take a look at the official post below:

Mayans M.C. Season 5: What to expect in the final season?

According to Deadline, quote, “Last season saw EZ Reyes (J.D. Pardo) fully embrace the dark side following a chain of tragic events including the murder of his former love Gaby Castillo (Sulem Calderon) by his own hand. In the final moments of the season finale, Reyes took his place at the head of the table – literally – after he and the rest of the MC ousted club El Presidente from the position. With Bishop (Michael Irby) as his second in command and a full-blown war ahead with SAMCRO, there’s no telling what mayhem Season 5 will bring.”

‘Yeah, we always knew we wanted to go there [with EZ],” James previously told Deadline. ‘In Season 4, we definitely stepped on the gas a little bit. While creating these characters, Kurt [Sutter] and I talked about how EZ had this path out and was going to go to Stanford but that was never going to happen. The universe was going to spit him out back where he belongs – that was always going to be his fate. For three seasons he wasn’t sure if he was in or out but now he’s all in. He’s making the wrong decisions but he’s handling it in the same way he did with his dog when he was little where he did what no one else could. That’s what he’s doing now with the club where there are egos is in the way like with Bishop (Michael Irby), and Angel (Clayton Cardenas). And I don’t say ego in a negative way.”

The Season 4 finale saw the M.C. mourn the loss of their brother Coco (Richard Cabral) who was killed in battle earlier in the season. It was also a big episode for Sons of Anarchy fans with the return of Kim Coates as Tig where he shared a particularly emotional reunion with OG Marcus Alvarez (Rivera). In another tie-in to SOA, Meth Mountain’s Isaac Packer’s (JR Bourne) reaper tattoo was finally explained in the episode. He is the younger brother of Les Packer (Robert Patrick), President of SAMCRO’s San Bernadino chapter who had been undergoing cancer treatment. Still alive and kicking, a return of Les would make total sense for Mayan M.C.’s final season.

When the series returns, Santo Padre will have a new leader in EZ (Pardo) who orchestrated the ouster of El Padrino snatching the seat at the head of the table. Alvarez wanted to barter peace between SAMCRO and Santo Padre but EZ and his brothers want war. Hopefully, this sets up the ultimate Sons of Anarchy and Mayans M.C. crossover fans have ever seen. The returning series stars in the fifth season include J.D. Pardo, Clayton Cardenas, Danny Pino, Michael Irby, Carla Baratta, Sarah Bolger, Emilio Rivera, Edward James Olmos, Frankie Loyal, Vincent Vargas, and Joseph Raymond Lucero. Hailing from 20th Television and FX Productions, “Mayans M.C.” is co-created and co-executive produced by Kurt Sutter and James, who is under a multi-year deal at 20th.
