Meghan Trainor is speaking openly about the reactions she has received regarding her recent 60-pound weight loss, emphasizing that her focus has been on improving her health after becoming a mother of two.
The singer, 31, addressed the topic in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, explaining that she has reached a point in her life where she is prioritizing her physical and mental well-being.
According to Trainor, she feels better than ever but has still found herself confronted with criticism about her appearance. She noted that as soon as she began feeling confident and healthier, negative comments intensified.
“I’m literally for the first time ever, after having babies, taking care of my health to the highest level and I’ve never felt better and I look incredible. I feel great,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
Trainor said she is committed to taking care of herself and is working on finding ways to avoid being affected by outside judgment. Earlier this year, she faced a wave of online criticism about her weight loss, which led her to share more about her health decisions.
“People started commenting about my body, saying I’m too thin, and that they don’t recognize me anymore. And I was like, ‘Oh, I’ve just been focusing so hard on my health and my fitness that I’ve never felt better.’ So, I was confused and sad and was like, ‘Oh, it’s almost worse now.’ I don’t know what happened,” Trainor told People.
In March, she revealed on Instagram that she had chosen to take Mounjaro, the brand name for the GLP-1 injectable tirzepatide. She explained that the decision came after the birth of her second child with her husband, actor Daryl Sabara.
Later that same month, during Billboard’s 2025 Women in Music Awards, Trainor elaborated on her approach to wellness. She said she began using the medication under professional guidance and paired it with lifestyle adjustments. Her routine included working with a dietician, adding a trainer to her schedule, and putting consistent effort into strengthening her overall health.
She described the process as a journey aimed at becoming the strongest and healthiest version of herself for both her children and herself. Trainor added that using medical support alongside lifestyle changes helped her regain her well-being and that she is grateful for the improvement.
Alongside the attention on her physical transformation, Trainor has been preparing for the release of new music. On Wednesday, she debuted Still Don’t Care, the lead single from her upcoming album, Toy With Me. She told People that the song emerged from a period when her usually positive social media environment shifted in tone.
As she posted updates, comments accusing her of being too thin and unrecognizable began to increase. Trainor said the criticism left her confused because she had simply been focusing intensely on her health and felt the best she had in years.
The unexpected negativity became a source of sadness for her, and she found herself grappling with the fact that judgment persisted even as she made progress that felt right for her. This experience shaped the message of Still Don’t Care, which she described as rooted in self-assurance and emotional resilience.
Trainor said the concept of reconsidering the criticism only to reaffirm that she does not care helped her process the situation. She views performing the song as a form of therapy and a way to navigate exposure to public opinion.
As Trainor moves forward with her upcoming album, she continues to highlight that her health choices are personal and intentional. She maintains that her priority remains her well-being and the needs of her growing family, and she hopes to stay focused on what makes her feel strong and grounded despite public reactions.
