The Outlander-inspired travelogue Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham is an American travel documentary miniseries that follows the journey of Outlander stars, Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish as they travel across Scotland and discover their heritage. The first season premiered on February 14, 2021, on Starz and had eight episodes. Created by Heughan and McTavish, Men in Kilts is produced by Boardwalk Pictures, in association with Sony Pictures Television.
With a 95% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, the series was loved for the camaraderie between the characters and the exploration of the locales of Scotland, upon its release. It was even nominated for four American reality TV Awards. Well, this prompted the makers to renew the second season.
In November 2021, Heughen and McTavish announced that Men in Kilts would be renewed for a second season. Let’s find out if it will release any time soon.
Will Men in Kilts season 2 release in January?
We have heard that the filming of Men in Kilts was completed at the beginning of 2022 and the show has been in the post-production stage since then. However, despite waiting for almost 2 years we are yet to get an official release date.
Meanwhile, through a video that was released at the end of 2022, it was made evident that Men in Kilts season 2 would be part of the 2023 lineup on STARZ. Even though, quite surprisingly that video was removed soon after being posted, it did suggest newer episodes of the series sometime in 2023.
According to Claireandjamie, “It is not really logical to hold back the show much longer. The only possible reason why we are not yet seeing its release could be scheduling. There will be other shows on STARZ ready to go. We know one of the Power shows is back on and there’s still a new season of Hightown to run. Not to forget Outlander Season 7 is coming in the summer.”
We can say that the travel series is definitely not coming to STARZ in January 2023, but since you had patiently waited for this long, we hope you can wait a bit more, especially if you are a Sam Heughan fan.
Recap of Men in Kilts season 1
Season one saw the Outlander duo Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish reunite for an epic adventure in Scotland where they explored their heritage and met people who genuinely depicted what it means to be Scottish. The eight-episode first season of the series has a duration of 30 minutes each and showcases the duo’s one-of-a-kind perspective on everything from Scottish clans and the Battle of Culloden to whisky tasting and folk dancing. Given their Outlander experience, both men had divulged into each and every experience, be it hanging off the edge of a cliff, wrangling a flock of wild sheep, or even discovering the true legacy of their Outlander characters.

We are expecting the traveling duo to explore the Scottish influence of New Zealand, while diving into its own history, in season 2 of Men in Kilts. Moreover, the second season will have a total of six episodes.
