Dating on Tinder seems harmless, right? Wrong. You never know what is waiting on the other side of the screen.
A 25-year-old Miami woman named Destiny Lenai Johnson was arrested last month and charged with three felonies, including attempted murder, first-degree arson, and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, per Miami-Dade County records reviewed by PEOPLE.
An arrest report was filed concerning this case, which specified that upon getting upset with her date, Johnson allegedly set the man with his SUV on fire outside a Holiday Inn Express & Suites hotel in Kendall, Fla, per The Miami-Herald, local NBC6, and local WSVN.
While reports state that Johnson is currently still being held in custody at the Miami-Dade County’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, she had earlier pleaded not guilty to the jury, and Judge Lody Jean ordered her not to contact the alleged victim. Additionally, per court records, she was denied bail on Tuesday.
The arrest report, which was analyzed and reported by the Herald, gives a clearer account of the incident that occurred. Johnson and the victim had reportedly decided to meet up in a hotel when she was seen storming towards the SUV with what appeared to have been a one-gallon jug of some kind of liquid. She asked her date for money to fix her car and then allegedly began yelling, “You guys are out to get me,” before pouring gasoline into the passenger side of his SUV, lighting the inside of the car on fire with a lighter.
Thereafter, she and the victim both lit up on fire. While Johnson had managed to escape the scene, the victim reported to the police before rushing to the hotel’s front desk to inform them of the incident that just took place. The arrest report further states that he was rushed to a local hospital where his burns were treated, per People.
Allegedly, a few hours later, Johnson was found naked where she was explaining how she had blown up a car. She was then taken to a hospital to get her burns tended to and then arrested in connection to the crime.
Per People, her next court appearance has been scheduled for December 18.
