Miley Cyrus can buy herself some flowers, only if they are not made of paper.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, December 4, the Flowers singer revealed her deep-rooted fear of paper. She explained, “Christmas, I’m known as a little bit of a Grinch because I have a qualm with Christmas. I hate paper. The real problem for me with paper is when people have dry hands, and they touch paper, and then it’s Christmas, and it’s cold, and everyone’s hands are dry, and they’re all touching paper.”

While explaining her bizarre relationship with paper, the 33-year-old pop star began to gag multiple times, admitting that her feelings about paper would be described as a “phobia.” She said, “It’s getting worse, and so there does need to be some sort of intervention, and I am gonna look into some sort of EMDR, being hypnotized about it because it is affecting my everyday life. Someone gets an Amazon box, I’m sick, because the cardboard is the worst of it all. It’s extra dry, and there’s packaging within it. That’s the best part, that’s really why I got engaged, because I just make my fiancé open all the packages outside.”

According to PEOPLE, when host Jimmy Kimmel asked, “I think the first anniversary is paper or something, right?”, Cyrus said with a laugh, “Uh nuh, not here,” while adding that she would “absolutely not” be traditional with the anniversary gifts.

As per the news reports, Cyrus’ engagement to musician Morando was officially confirmed earlier this week. When the 58-year-old TV host asked the Can’t Be Tamed singer whether she would sign her own marriage certificate or not, Cyrus explicated, “Here’s the thing, waxed paper, anything that’s got a smooth surface, that’s better. And from the last marriage [to Liam Hemsworth], I think I remember the paper is waxed, but I smoked one of those imaginary joints, so I can’t really remember.”

For Cyrus, her phobia of paper has been quite concerning, since even a small task like opening the envelope seems to be insurmountable for her.

“Books, again, I was so happy when they had a Kindle, when the Kindle was invented. As long as they’re not dry. When I write my book, wax paper.”

The Hannah Montana star recalled how her phobia began when she was a child going on lengthy car trips from Tennessee to Canada with her mother, Tish Cyrus, and her five siblings. Cyrus shared that her brothers would rub paper together to unnerve her in the car.

Be that as it may, when it comes to “rolling paper”, Cyrus does not face any problem.

She said, “That’s fine. First of all, my hands aren’t dry, okay? And neither are the papers”, while mimicking licking the paper.

When asked if her fiancé, Morando, was aware that if he had waited several weeks to pop the question, he wouldn’t have to be concerned with getting Cyrus a Christmas gift.

Flashing the ring, Cyrus joked, “This was Black Friday deal, baby. It wasn’t, but he was smart that way. It might have been. I’m not sure. It better not have been.”

And when it comes to having any preferences for holiday gifts, Cyrus revealed that she avoids unwrapping any sort of paper.

She said, “I love stockings, and anything that I want is usually pretty small, and it can fit perfectly fine within a silk stocking — no paper. I prefer silk, no dryness.”

Speaking to PEOPLE, a source shared that the Malibu singer is “thrilled” to be engaged to Morando and is living “exactly the life she wanted.”

The source added, “The ring is so her. It has a cool, boho-rock vibe to it. It’s beautiful. She didn’t feel the need to announce her engagement. Maxx is very private, and it’s influencing how she lives her life now.”
