Is Miss Scarlet & The Duke returning for another season in 2022? Continue reading to find out more about Miss Scarlet & The Duke Season 3.
Get over here! Sherlock Holmes, the first female detective to ever work in Victorian England, is on the case and is set to return for another season. The creators have done an excellent job of giving it a realistic edge instead of the usual tea and rosewater romanticization of the Victorian London era. Moreover, the series launched as part of Masterpiece’s 50th-anniversary lineup, with some 3.6M viewers streaming it digitally. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series holds a score of 86% from critic reviews and a 74% audience score.
These numbers alone suggest that for a newly released streaming platform, this series has been a great success. So, renewing the show for another season doesn’t seem too far-fetched. As it appears that the holdup for the fans won’t last too long now because we have some great news to share! Here’s a quick rundown of everything you need to know about the release date, plot, and cast, so you can get a head start on the next installment and be prepared before the series airs on PBS Masterpiece.

Miss Scarlet & The Duke Season 3 Release Date and Time Slot
As of July 29, 2022, we can assure readers that Miss Scarlet & The Duke Season 3 won’t be available to stream this year. The series is expected to premiere sometime around early 2023. The official date for the upcoming season is revealed to be January 8, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET on PBS.
As the production of the next season is underway and the post-production stage will also take some time to perfect the episodes to make the next season much more compelling for the fans. Hence, we suggest fans be patient for some time as more announcements will be published and made available to the public in a scheduled manner by the streaming platforms.
Miss Scarlet & The Duke Season 3 Plot
The upcoming season is expected to pick up from the finale episode of the second season, The Proposal. The episode was directed by Ivan Zivkovic and written by Ben Edwards and Rachael New. According to the official description, Season 2 opens a few months after the conclusion of Season 1: Eliza has solved a very personal case that vexed her throughout Season 1; her relationship with William (the Duke) continues to slowly simmer, and she continues to face the challenges of being a female private detective in male-dominated Victorian London.
While Eliza and the Duke struggle with their relationship, private investigator Nash are shot just as Eliza agrees to work with him. As Eliza and Moses work to solve the attempted murder, they realize the real target of the shooting was Eliza herself. So, it is expected that this already established premise will lead to the pilot episode of Miss Scarlet & The Duke Season 3.
It’s also anticipated that it will pick up any cliffhangers and subplots from the previous season in the first episode of the new one and plunge right into this world with more experiments, giving viewers something fresh to consider rather than the same old themes. In order to create the best material and story while prioritizing these cherished characters, the network must entice viewers to stream the series.
The positive reception from the viewers and critics has made them eager to watch the series when it airs on streaming services because many of the episodes have garnered positive reviews from viewers. It will be intriguing to see how they respond to the increasing appeal and whether they add a new element to the series that makes the viewers interested in watching it for more seasons.
Miss Scarlet & The Duke Season 3 Cast
The original cast is anticipated to return and carry the storyline into the next season. In addition, the network had not released any new casting announcements as of July 29, 2022. The list of the series’ prominent characters with their description is as follows:
Kate Phillips as Miss Scarlet: Miss Scarlet may appear to be a refined Victorian lady, but she’s also as scrappy and feisty, resilient and strong-spirited.
Stuart Martin as The Duke: William “The Duke” Wellington is a tough Scotland Yard inspector who lives and breathes his work—and believes that only a man can do the work of a detective properly. But his old friend Eliza Scarlet is determined to prove him wrong.
Cathy Belton as Ivy, the Scarlet family’s housekeeper: Ivy does what she can to be part housekeeper, part parent to Eliza after the death of her father, but impulsive Eliza isn’t exactly the best at listening to her advice.
Andrew Gower as Rupert Parker: Parker seems to be a mild-mannered oddball from a wealthy family. But underneath it all, he’s an independent thinker and strikes up a unique friendship with Miss Scarlet.
Ansu Kabia as Moses: Fans may recognize Kabia from his roles in films such as Murder on the Orient Express and Last Christmas or from TV roles in series such as I May Destroy You and Casualty. Miss Scarlet and The Duke, however, is not Kabia’s first MASTERPIECE role—the actor also appeared in World on Fire and The Long Song.
Kevin Doyle as Henry Scarlet: Henry Scarlet, a retired police officer, is the original Scarlet detective in the family. Before his untimely death, Mr. Scarlet ran his business into some trouble, leaving Eliza to pick up the pieces after his death. But it turns out Miss Scarlet may not be so alone after all, as Henry’s memory guides her through the shady London underworld in Season 1.
