Miss Scarlet and the Duke Season 4 Plot: What to expect?
According to the press release, the synopsis of the season reads as follows:
“In the new season, Kate Phillips (The Crown, Wolf Hall) and Stuart Martin (Jamestown, Crime) return as the titular will-they-won’t-they crime solvers. Eliza has taken over the business of Nash & Sons (not that he has any sons), and things are not going entirely smoothly, although help comes from some familiar sources. Outside of work, her relationship with William (The Duke) builds towards a looming decision that will shape both their lives.”
The cast and crew has also given some inside scoop about the series plotlines:
Rachael New (Creator/Writer/Executive Producer) stated, “Eliza’s got to decide: ‘Do I want to carry on in this kind of small business that I’m struggling with? Or do I want the weight and the clout of the most successful private detective agency in London behind me?’ That opens a box for her, like Pandora’s box.”
When Arabella broke things off with the Duke at the end of Season 3 by pointing out his obvious feelings for Eliza, it was a “sharp kind of slap in the face” for the curmudgeonly Detective Inspector, said New. But the question remains: “Is [it] going to make him wake up and smell the coffee and realize that, you know, is it time to do something about [his feelings for Eliza]?”
According to Kate Phillips, who plays Eliza, “There will be “more about Eliza and William’s history [and] how they came to be.” Plus, “There’ll definitely be some more fun characters for you to meet that are really great and you’ll just love them. And more sparring and back and forth than ever!” As for Eliza’s new job: “Nash & Sons allows her to meet lots of new people. She’s always looking to get one step ahead so the more people she meets, the more opportunities she has.”
Whereas Stuart Martin, who plays The Duke, says, “There’s a lot of revelations, a lot of the emotional stories are really pushed and tested,” Martin teased. “We get to see Eliza and Duke really move forward in their relationship.”
Miss Scarlet and the Duke Season 4 Cast: Who will return?
The season will star Kate Phillips (The Crown, Peaky Blinders) and Stuart Martin (Jamestown, Army of Thieves) as the beloved duo of Eliza Scarlet and William “The Duke” Wellington, respectively.
In Season 4 we will also get to see Felix Scott (The Crown) as the devious Patrick Nash; Cathy Belton (Philomena) as the ever-kind and supportive Ivy Woods; Evan McCabe (Doctor Who) as the Duke’s unofficial mentee Detective Oliver Fitzroy; Simon Ludders (Bridgerton) as the high-strung Mr. Potts (though much less high strung around his love, Ivy); and Tim Chipping (EastEnders) as the tough and occasionally shifty Detective Phelps.
For this season, we will also get to see some new faces as the show will officially welcome a couple to the scene, which includes Paul Bazely (Black Mirror) and Curtis Kantsa (The Sandman). Details about their characters have not been disclosed and will be confirmed once the premiere date draws close to release. Finally, Miss Scarlet and The Duke is an Element 8 Entertainment production co-produced with Masterpiece in association with 87 Films, Other Mans Shoes, and Work in Progress.
