Monster rookie group NewJeans surpasses BTS members to make THIS record

On January 17, 2023, NewJeans’ Hype Boy went on to become the most streamed song on Spotify Korea. For the unversed, it had 5.899 million streams! With this, the track beat BTS’ Butter which had 5.895 million streams. The best part here is that the K-pop group NewJeans was able to achieve this feat in just six months after their debut!

The groups record on Melon Weekly Charts

NewJeans has also joined BIGBANG and 2NE1 as the third group and sixth artist in Melon’s history to occupy all three top spots on Weekly Charts after Ditto, OMG, and Hype Boy. It also makes NewJeans the first-ever group to achieve this feat in eight years!

Previously, only BIGBANG and 2NE1 were able to make such a record.

NewJeans’ ‘Ditto’ is number one. After its release on December 19 based on the Melon TOP 100 chart on January 17, 2023.

The Billboard record

Lee Hwa Jeong, who happens to be a researcher at NH Investment & Securities, stated that NewJeans is all set to enter the Billboard main single chart Hot 100 with the new song ‘Ditto.’ It is an achievement for the group after half a year of their much-loved debut.

The ‘monster rookie’ group NewJeans recently entered their 5th month of debut recently. All of the members are also building new records by succeeding in consecutive box office hits with two of their latest released singles.

For the unversed, the group members released their first single album ‘OMG’ on the 2nd. The album, which contains the title song ‘OMG’ and of course, ‘Ditto’, was released in advance last month. It talks about a relationship seen from the point of view of a slightly strange distance and unfamiliar background while showing NewJeans’ winter sensibility.

The track ‘Ditto’ landed at No. 1 on the real-time charts of Melon, Bugs, and Genie on domestic music sites immediately after its release. The song also entered the Melon Weekly Chart at No. 1.

Not only that but ‘Ditto’ is also holding the No. 1 spot on the weekly chart for three consecutive weeks. It ranked 19th with 3.26 million daily streams on Spotify’s ‘Daily Top Song Global’ chart as recorded in December 2022.
