*Spoilers Ahead for Episode 1*
Kamala Khan is a 16-year-old high school student who is a huge fan of the Avengers, especially Captain Marvel. Kamala and her best friend Bruno Carrelli finish her Captain Marvel cosplay for “AvengerCon” while evading her stern parents, Yusuf and Muneeba, after failing another driving test and visiting with a school counselor Gabe Wilson.
Muneeba thinks it’s garbage when Kamala receives a gift from her grandmother, which includes a golden bangle. Kamala and Bruno sneak off and attend AvengerCon nevertheless, after failing to persuade her parents to allow her to go.
Using the bracelet as part of her cosplay. She puts it on after getting ready, but it causes her to project constructs of cosmic energy, unwittingly wreaking devastation. Kamala manages to use her abilities to save her classmate Zoe Zimmer from plummeting in the midst of the commotion.
Bruno rushes Kamala home, where Muneeba begs her to concentrate on her own narrative. Agents P. Cleary and Sadie Deever of the Department of Damage Control (DODC) review a video of Kamala’s incident at AvengerCon and travel to New Jersey to identify and jail her in a mid-credits scene. *Spoilers Ahead for Episode 2*
The episode begins with Kamala training to control her powers with Bruno’s help; the latter deduces that the bangle activated Kamala’s powers, which came from within her. Dissatisfied with the male-dominated leadership of their Mosque Board, Kamala’s friend Nakia Bahadir decides to stand for elections. Kamala, Nakia, and Bruno attend a party organized by Zoe, where they meet Kamran, a new British-Pakistani senior at school.
The party is cut short by the police, but Kamala manages to make friends with Kamran. Bruno becomes frustrated when Kamala, infatuated with Kamran, chooses to spend time with him instead of training. Kamala questions her grandma Sana and Muneeba about Kamala’s great-grandmother Aisha, the original owner of the bangle.
After seeing a vision of a mysterious woman and blacking out during a family dinner, both dismiss her. According to Yusuf, young Sana had lost her way during the Partition of India’s hostilities but was able to find her father almost miraculously. Cleary and Deever arrange a sweep in the tri-state area, targeting South Asian communities, after questioning Zoe about her savior at AvengerCon.
A little kid, Hameed slides from a balcony during the annual Eid Al-Adha celebration and nearly falls before Kamala saves him with her powers. She falters for a little moment after seeing the woman again. Kamala is apprehended by DODC operatives commanded by Deever, but Kamran assists her in escaping in his car. He then presents Kamala to his mother, Najma, whom she recognizes as the woman she saw in her vision. Take a look at some fan’s reactions to Episode Two below:
