In a crossover premiere event, CBS will launch NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i into their new seasons together while having the casts of both shows participate in a manhunt for a deadly felon. The record 20th season of NCIS on the network will begin with the two-hour premiere, and NCIS: Hawai’i will enter its second season. Everything begins on September 19, at 9 p.m. (ET) on CBS and streams live and on-demand on Paramount+ to exclusively watch the episode premiere on the platform.

As per recent reports, the episode will follow the plot as stated, “Across two hours, the hunt for a dangerous suspect unveils a complex network and a larger, sinister plan that will take the D.C. team to Hawai’i in a race to thwart the next large-scale attack.”

It begins with the Season 20 premiere of NCIS at 9 PM. The “A Family Matter” episode picks up following the cliffhanger season 19 finale, with Special Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole) still on the run with his ex-wife Vivian (Terri Polo) and the team investigating who from his past might have a personal vendetta against him in hopes of clearing Parker’s name. Enlisting the help of NCIS: Hawai’i’s Special Agent Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) and computer specialist Ernie Malick (Jason Antoon), who are in town meeting with director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) in preparation for a global military exercise, the group tracks down their prime suspect, The Raven.

The crossover event concludes with the Season 2 premiere of NCIS: Hawai’i, which follows at 10 PM. In the “Prisoners’ Dilemma” episode, Tennant’s team, along with NCIS agents Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and Jessica Knight (Katrina Law), track The Raven’s whereabouts on the island of Oahu and learn about his plans to attack RIMPAC (The Rim of the Pacific Exercises), the world’s largest international maritime warfare exercise. NCIS stars Gary Cole, Brian Dietzen, and Diona Reasonover also guest stars in the episode.

This marks the second occasion the two shows have met up for a crossover. When an old case of theirs reappeared, Jane Tennant invited Nick Torres to visit Hawai’i, which was the first time the two crime dramas had crossed over since March. The cross-over episode was a part of NCIS: Hawai’i season 1 episode 18 simply titled as, T’N’T released on March 28, 2022. The episode is directed by Lionel Coleman and written by Christopher Silber & Megan Bacharach. It was viewed by an estimate of 6.13 million US viewers. On the other hand, NCIS season 19 episode 17, Starting Over, was released on March 28, 2022. This episode begins a crossover event that concludes with NCIS: Hawai’i season 1 episode 18, which is directed by Michael Zinberg and written by Margaret Rose Lester and Scott Williams.

In the episode, while Tobias Fornell (Joe Spano) and Dr. Grace Confalone (Laura San Giacomo) assist NCIS in the apparent suicide case of a Naval officer in Palmer and Knight’s grief group, Torres is informed by an old colleague and friend, Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey), that a witness in an old case of his has resurfaced, but when they pick him up, their car is hit by a barrage of gunfire and overturns.
