We have officially entered April 2023 and the fans of the smash hit Mindy Kaling Netflix original, Never Have I Ever, are still perched on the edge of their seats, waiting for some news regarding its upcoming fourth season. Ever since Netflix announced the filming for the latest season had wrapped in August 2022, fans had speculated that this romantic comedy would hit the Netflix library in 2023. Unfortunately, it is not on the March release list of movies and shows released by Netflix.
Written and produced by Mindy Kaling, this coming-of-age show has garnered the People’s Choice Award for the Comedy Show of the Year in 2021 and 2022, with a 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and has consistently been among Netflix’s top 10 shows.
Season 3 ended with high tension between Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and Ben (Jaren Lewison) which will only culminate in the corridors of Sherman Oaks High in season 4. That being said, here are all the details you need to know about Never Have I Ever Season 4.
What is the release date of Never Have I Ever season 4?
Netflix has reportedly confirmed that season 4 of Never Have I Ever will be premiering in 2023. In addition, the official Twitter account of the series in September 2022 also hinted at the arrival of the season to come “soon”. With that said, we can certainly predict that the fourth and final installment of the series would hit the Netflix library in the early half of 2023.
Initially, a rumor was circulated that Never Have I Ever season 4 was hitting the Netflix library on Friday, March 17th, 2023. Owing to the absence of the season’s mention in the March 2023 list of new movies and shows on Netflix, we can conclude that the statement was mendacious.
Season one of Never Have I Ever premiered in April 2020, followed by the second season in July 2021 and season 3 in August 2022. Considering that production on season 3 wrapped in March 2022, we speculate the upcoming season to release sometime in May or June 2023.
we wrapped filming!! It’s all done! I feel so grateful and overwhelmed with emotions🥹

In August 2022, creator Mindy Kaling expressed her deeply felt emotions over completing the production of the last season of Never Have I Ever, while in conversation with Entertainment Weekly. She said, “We finished season four, and it’s good. It’s just a testament to how hard it is to say goodbye to characters you love writing… It takes a while for writers to figure out characters. You write a pilot, and then you hire people, and then you get into this groove. That’s why so many shows growing up lasted like five seasons too long.”
She further added, “But I do feel that, in a couple years, I’ll look back on this and say: ‘No, that was good that it ended then.'”
What can we expect to happen in Never Have I Ever Season 4?
In season 3 of Never Have I Ever, we saw Devi slow-dancing with Paxton in front of everyone including Ben who exuded a feeling of longing. Although Devi and Paxton look like the typical meant-to-be couple, we know that perhaps they are not the endgame owing to the serious feelings brewing inside Ben.
Regardless of whether season 4 ends up culminating in a #Bevi or #Daxton, what we know is that Devi would have certainly resolved her issues and evolved into a better person. In 2022, Ramakrishnan said, “I think in this Team Ben, Team Paxton situation, the best team is Team Devi… It is a love triangle. Tri, meaning three, or triangle. She is the best point.”
Teasing at this plot point, the showrunner said, “The love triangle is the skeleton of the show and you can’t take it away for the final season. But we wanted this final episode [of season three] to be Devi saying goodbye to Paxton on a pedestal. In season four, there will be fun and interesting things that ensue after whatever has happened [between Devi and Ben].”
Kaling and Fisher, in a note to the show’s fans announced that they are “absolutely thrilled” about the fourth installment of the season. They said, “We can’t wait to reveal all the steamy romance and hilarious adventures we have in store for you. Thanks to all our fans for your support – especially you #Bevi and #Daxton stans. We love you!”
Concerning the plot of the upcoming installment, Deadline writes:
“It is senior year, after all, so there has to be a mix of school goals and dating fun. There’s at least one other exciting element that was revealed in the video below, there’s a wedding celebration in the future and it’s somebody unexpected.”
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Fisher said, “There are plenty of romantic hijinks in season four to come.Without giving too much away about anything, [Devi] is done in this moment with Paxton as a dream guy. He was someone that she had put on a pedestal and worshipped from afar. That part of her life is over and that’s what she’s saying goodbye to in this moment.
“As for what the future holds for Devi and Paxton, it’s not the version we’ve seen before, where she’s a loser who worshipped him. Whatever happens post-her showing up there will also be introducing complications into season four.
“I think season four is about growing up and moving on. For these characters, it’s their senior year. Who do they want to be in the world? And I think it’s, like, them being slightly more grown-up versions of themselves and having this kind of big, epic senior year.
“Hopefully, we send people off into their future lives in a way that feels satisfying to our fans.”

Not only that, but Fisher also teased the arrival of the new character. He said, “There’s a real hunk coming in for season four. Common’s character [Dr Chris Jackson] came into the story during Devi’s sophomore year [season 2], and nobody was ready for it then. Nalini admits she wasn’t ready for it.
“Ivan’s character Andres shows up during Devi’s senior year, when there’s been a little more time for everyone to kind of process stuff and be in a different place.”
In addition to the above-mentioned list of roles, Love, Victor star Michael Cimino will also be joining the cast of Never Have I Ever season 4 as Ethan to add more spice to Devi’s life (as if it wasn’t already there!)
