Touted as one of the major OTT platforms, Netflix abounds a plethora of popular shows spanning various genres that are now becoming the talk of the town. Sifting through this litany and choosing one to watch becomes a struggle. However, if you’re looking forward to watching some of the fresh Netflix Originals, then you’ve landed on the right destination.

We’ve compiled some of the most popular Netflix shows which will arrive in April 2023 with no requirement of any pre-contextual knowledge pool whatsoever. These are the most popular shows which are expected to make a cut in Netflix’s top 10.

1. Firefly Lane season 2 part 2

Ever since Firefly Lane premiered on February 3, 2021, it welcomed a slew of positive reviews from the audience that continues to shower in the second season as well. The first part of the second season ended on a major cliffhanger with the episode titled, “Hart Shaped Box,” showcasing Kate and Tully’s experience of being a year apart and struggling to make both ends meet. Ending on such a note of high tension, fans have been perched on the edge of their seats, waiting for the second part, which is dubbed “The Final Chapter” to drop on Netflix as soon as possible.

For those unversed, Firefly Lane is a feel-good drama, based on the popular novel written by American author Kristin Hannah, which follows the story of two best friends and the adventures they face in their personal lives as well as in their friendships.

When it was renewed for a second season, it was announced that the second season would be the last season which would receive a “supersized” 16-episode order. The initial nine episodes were dropped on Netflix globally on December 2nd, 2022. Once the second season premiered on Netflix, it garnered a position in the global top 10s picking up 132.90 million hours between November 27 and January 1, 2023, and stayed here for five weeks/

It was later announced that the second season of Firefly Lane will be released in two parts, with the first part released on Netflix on December 2, 2022. During Netflix’s Tudum event, Firefly Lane season 2 part 2 was announced to be released on June 8, 2023.

On February 17th, actress Katherine Heigl updated the fans that the remaining episodes will be released earlier than expected. In a Tweet, she mentioned: “Firefly Lane returns to Netflix on April 27! That’s right, our premiere got moved up so you can catch our fabulous retro hair sooner. So prepare to cancel all your plans and ignore your responsibilities until you finish binging the entire season!”

2. Beef

Starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, Beef is all set to stream on Netflix on Thursday, April 6th, 2023. Created by Lee Sung Jin, the comedy-drama series follows the ramifications of a road rage incident between two complete strangers. Danny (Steven Yeun) is a contractor and Amy (Ali Wong) is a hotshot entrepreneur. Dovetailing a Marxist angle, the plot of the show underscores their feud which retrenches the essence of their lives and predetermines their thoughts and actions.

The cast also includes the likes of Ashley Park, David Choe, Young Mazino, Joseph Lee, Patti Yasutake, Maria Bello, Justin H. Min, Andrew Santino, Rekstizzy, Mia Serafino, Remy Holt, and Ione Skye. This Netflix comedy consists of 10 episodes in the first season, with each episode being 30 minutes long.

3. Transatlantic

Releasing on April 7, Transatlantic features Love and Fear Street star Gillian Jacobs. It is a period drama encircling the time during which the 1940 refugee crisis took place in Marseille, France. Featuring Cory Michael Smith, Corey Stoll, Grégory Montel, Lucas Englander, Ralph Amoussou, Deleila Piasko, and Amit Rahhav, this seven-episode period drama underscores the true story of Varian Fry, a journalist who arrives in France in 1940 and forms the Emergency Rescue Committee. The committee is responsible for helping artists and writers escape the Nazis and immigrate to the United States.

Based upon the novel, The Flight Portfolio by Julie Orringer, Transatlantic like the novel is a fictionalization of Fry’s Emergency Rescue Committee. Filmed in English, German and French in 2022, creator Anna Winger said, “The human ability to live fully, find joy and keep a sense of humor even in the darkest of times lies at the heart of Transatlantic. I can’t wait to bring audiences into this story.”

4. Florida Man

Hitting the Netflix library on April 13, Florida Man is a limited series starring Édgar Ramírez. Following the life of an ex-cop who returns to Florida in order to search for a mobster’s missing girlfriend, Florida Man stars Anthony LaPaglia, Abbey Lee, Otmara Marrero, Lex Scott Davis, Emory Cohen, Clark Gregg, Isaiah Johnson, Paul Schneider, and Lauren Buglioli.

Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan serve as the executive producers of the show, along with Donald Todd who also serves as the creator and the showrunner. This quick comedy drama abounds a plethora of shocking twists and turns that might snare you into a jaw-dropping moment.
