Another year bites the snow!
With 2023 coming to an end within a month, Netflix has a few series lined up to release in December to help you get into the holiday spirit. So brew up a mug of hot cocoa, cuddle up in a blanket, and binge-watch this list of movies and series that will feature on Netflix this December.
December 1 Lineup
Man of Steel (2013) – Directed by Zack Snyder
DC stans, queue up your Netflix watchlist and add Man of Steel to the top because Netflix is bringing this classic Superman movie to your screens this December. ‘An alien child is evacuated from his dying world and sent to Earth to live among humans. His peace is threatened when other survivors of his home planet invade Earth.’ Man of Steel is penned by writers David S. Goyer, Christopher Nolan, and Jerry Siegel and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, and Michael Shannon.
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) – Directed by Zack Snyder
Queueing the Snyder blockbusters, we have another treat for the DC fandom. It is an intriguing story where ‘Batman is manipulated by Lex Luthor to fear Superman. Superman´s existence is meanwhile dividing the world and he is framed for murder during an international crisis. The heroes clash and force the neutral Wonder Woman to reemerge.’ Starring Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, and Henry Cavill, the movie was inked by writers Bob Kane, Bill Finger, and Jerry Siegel.
Suicide Squad (2016) – Directed by David Ayer
An iconic movie stars the most popular actors, including Will Smith, Jared Letto, and Margot Robbie. The story is about a secret government agency that recruits some of the most dangerous incarcerated supervillains to form a defensive task force. Their first mission: save the world from the apocalypse.’ It was written by David Ayer and John Ostrander.
Wonder Woman (2017) – Directed by Patty Jenkins
A new superhero emerges and sways the DC fandom with Gal Gadot as Wonderwoman and her opposite love interest, Chris Pine. The film was written by Allan Heinberg, and based on a story conceived by Heinberg, Zack Snyder, and Jason Fuchs. ‘When a pilot crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world, Diana, an Amazonian warrior in training, leaves home to fight a war, discovering her full powers and true destiny.’
Justice League (2017) – Directed by Zack Snyder
Popularly referred to as Snyder’s cut, Zack’s Justice League is the 2021 director’s cut of the 2017 American superhero film Justice League, the fifth film set within the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) based on the team of the same name appearing in DC Comics publications. ‘Determined to ensure that Superman’s ultimate sacrifice wasn’t in vain, Bruce Wayne recruits a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions.’
Shazam! (2019)
Starring Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, and Asher Angel, a newly fostered young boy in search of his mother instead finds unexpected superpowers and soon gains a powerful enemy.
Birds Of Prey (2020) – Directed by Cathy Yan
It is the fabulous post-breakup emancipation of Harley Quinn, starring Margot Robbie, Rosie Perez, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. After splitting with the Joker, Harley Quinn joins superheroines Black Canary, Huntress, and Renee Montoya to save a young girl from an evil crime lord.
Wonder Woman: 1984 (2020) – Directed by Patty Jenkins
Gal Gadot returns as Diana with the title role of Wonder Woman, where she must contend with a work colleague and with a businessman whose desire for extreme wealth sends the world down a path of destruction after an ancient artifact that grants wishes goes missing.
The Batman (2022)
Yes! It’s the Robert Pattinson Batman, where when a sadistic serial killer begins murdering key political figures in Gotham, Batman is forced to investigate the city’s hidden corruption and question his family’s involvement. Starring opposite love interest Catwoman, we have Zoë Kravitz.
Hunter Killer (2018)
Directed by Donovan Marsh, it is a story about an untested American submarine captain who teams with U.S. Navy Seals to rescue the Russian president, who has been kidnapped by a rogue general. It stars Gerard Butler and Gary Oldman and is penned by Arne and
Jamie Moss.
May December (2023)
An Original Netflix series, May December, premiers in December on the platform. ‘Twenty years after their notorious tabloid romance gripped the nation, a married couple buckles under pressure when an actress arrives to do research for a film about their past.’ It stars prominent actors like Charles Melton and Natalie Portman, building the anticipation radar.
Lucy (2014)
Scarlett Johansson stars in this sci-fi action movie about a woman who can unlock 100% of her brain capacity and turn it into a memory stick. We love to watch our Black Widow in action.
She’s The Man (2006)
A coming-of-age classic romcom starring Amanda Bynes and Channing Tatum will drop on Netflix on December 1. ‘When her brother decides to ditch for a couple of weeks, Viola heads over to his elite boarding school, disguised as him, and proceeds to fall for his school’s star soccer player, and soon learns she’s not the only one with romantic troubles.’
Sweet Home (Season 2)
We have a horror series lined up for its second season, and it is none other than the horrific South Korean series Sweet Home, an ironic twist to the name. Hyun, a loner high school student who lost his entire family in a terrible accident, is forced to leave his home and has to face a new reality where monsters are trying to wipe out all of humanity. Now, he must fight against all odds to try and race against the clock to save what is left of the human race before it’s too late.
Who We Become (2023) ARRAY Releasing
Starring Jenah de las Alas, MaravillaMonica Silverio, and Lauren Yap, this is about a story of kapwa and follows three Filipino women, each coming into their political consciousness and discovering themselves during a pivotal moment in their lives. Kapwa, a Filipino term that means “togetherness” or “neighbor”, is a recognition of a shared identity, an inner self that is shared with others.
December 6 Lineup
Blood Coast (Season 1)
A Netflix original series starring Jeanne Goursaud, Nicolas Duvauchelle, and Tewfik Jallab, it is based on A group of police officers with particular methods who track down a dangerous criminal to prevent Marseille from plunging into a bloodbath.
December 7 Lineup
Analog Squad (Season 1)
A Netflix original series, which is a Thai drama from director Nithiwat Tharatorn, which is about the turn of the millennium, where a group of misfits is hired to play the part of estranged family members to fill in the cracks of one broken family.
The Archies (2023)
It is a Bollywood edition by Zoya Akhtar of the infamous universe of Archie. Set in the 1960s, based on Archie Comics, it finds Indian actors taking on the beloved characters. It is an experience bursting with youth, rebellion, friendships, first loves, and everything young adult.
December 8 Lineup
Leave The World Behind (2023)
A Netflix original series starring Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, and Ethan Hawke, among others, is releasing this December on Netflix. A family’s getaway to a luxurious rental home takes an ominous turn when a cyberattack knocks out their devices, and two strangers appear at their door.
December 12 Lineup
Kevin Hart & Chris Rock: Headliners Only (2023)
It is a Netflix Original documentary on the comedian’s friendship and career.
December 14 Lineup
The Crown (Season 6 – Part 2)
The most-anticipated final part of the final Season of The Crown will reach us this December, thereby amping up the anticipation radar. It is Netflix’s flagship biopic series on Queen Elizabeth II.
December 20 Lineup
Maestro (2023)
Bradley Cooper takes the reigns on this Netflix Original series, where he stars and directs in this biopic on the late conductor/composer Leonard Bernstein.
Love is Blind Brazil: After the Altar (2023)
A reality TV hit show is returning with a spinoff, which is a special follow-up to the Brazillian spin-off of the dating series.

Gyeongseong Creature (Season 1)
Adding to our horror binge list, we have another South Korean eerie series, which is launching its first season as a Netflix original series, a Korean horror series set during the mid-1940s that sees a young woman and man fighting for survival against monsters.
Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire (2023)
Another Netflix Original series concocted from the magical mind of Zack Snyder is about when a peaceful settlement on the edge of a distant moon finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, a mysterious stranger living among its villagers becomes their best hope for survival.
December 29 Lineup
Money Heist: Berlin (Season 1)
A Netflix original series that is a spin-off to the beloved La Casa de Papel series focusing on the character played by Pedro Alonso.
