Is the “Queen of Rap” dropping hints to Barbz about a potential collaboration with none other than the iconic Rihanna?

Even though “Gag City” has already taken over the internet with the announcement of the Pink Friday 2 World Tour, the renowned rapper-singer will embark in March 2024 to promote her already successful fifth studio album, Pink Friday 2, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, making Minaj the first female rapper to have three number-one albums in the country. Despite all the ongoing buzz surrounding the album, it looks like the Trinidadian-born pop sensation is far from over, as she has taken her loyal fans by surprise with her recent announcement!

On Wednesday (December 20), the 41-year-old “Super Freaky Girl” rapper posted an Instagram Story featuring the 35-year-old Fenty Beauty founder and CEO.

In the story posted Rihanna can be seen dancing to the tune of the Pink Friday 2 track “FTCU,” which has gone pretty viral as both of their fandoms have been sharing the short clip all over social media. Minaj also chimed in by sharing the video while also writing an eye-catching caption, which has raised curiosity among their followers as it hints at a collaboration that might happen to be an explosive addition to the highly anticipated deluxe edition of Pink Friday 2, quote: “The full gag city deluxe ain’t coming out until Queen Rih send her vocals. POW.”

The post’s comment section which was originally shared by @augustwiththeshade has been filled by fans requesting the “Lift Me Up” singer to send in the verse for the collaboration to become a reality. One user wrote, “Riri better send them vocals.” A second user commented, “WE NEED ANOTHER ‘FLY’ MOMENT.” A third user commented, “Barbzzzz call her out so she can send her vocals immediately.” A fourth user stated, “Nicki reposted she waiting for ri😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫💕💕💕💕” A fifth one demanded, “We need new rihanna music and nicki and riri collab. She better send in them vocals!”

There are a few chances that the collaboration might happen as on Dec. 11, a digital deluxe edition of the album was released through Minaj’s webstore, featuring an exclusive remix of “Beep Beep” with 50 Cent. This feature was also unexpected to many fans as it was a bonus track on an exclusive digital version of the album on her website, which was later made available to streaming platforms. Minaj thanked the “Candy Shop” rapper, on Instagram for sending in his verse, “He walked on this sh!t. YIKESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I am so honored to have him stop by #GagCity!!!! #PinkFriday2.”

Lastly, we would also like to stress that whether Minaj was serious about the collab has not been confirmed but the post is certainly aware of the expectations of the fans as the duo did work together back in 2010 on the track, “Fly,” form Minaj’s debut album, Pink Friday, which topped the US Billboard 200 chart. The song was released as the eighth and final single. The song is a hip-hop track that incorporates elements of R&B, and it is inspired by the emotion of soaring above and overcoming all stereotypes and negativity, to come out victorious.

In the United States, “Fly” peaked at number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also peaked within the top 20 of the charts in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Furthermore, “Fly” marked the top 20 positions on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Mainstream Top 40 charts and reached the top ten of the US Hot Rap Songs chart at number nine. The song’s accompanying music video, directed by Sanaa Hamri, depicts Minaj and Rihanna experiencing destruction in a post-apocalyptic environment.
