Not Dead Yet: What to expect in the new series?

From creators David Windsor and Casey Johnson (“This Is Us,” “The Real O’Neals”) and starring Gina Rodriguez, “Not Dead Yet,” follows Nell Serrano (Rodriguez), a broke and newly single self-described disaster, working to restart the life and career she left behind five years ago. When she lands the only job she can find – writing obituaries – Nell starts getting life advice from an unlikely source.

The series is adapted from the book “Confessions of a 40-something F**k Up” by Alexandra Potter. “Not Dead Yet,” stars Gina Rodriguez as Nell Serrano, Hannah Simone as Sam, Lauren Ash as Lexi, Rick Glassman as Edward, Joshua Banday as Dennis, and Angela Gibbs as Cricket.

In addition to this, the character description of Hannah Simone’s Sam states that she is the editor of the Life & Style section of the newspaper and a busy working mom. A former wild child, Sam has hit her stride and seems to handle everything thrown her way with ease and an organized “mom purse.” But underneath this exterior, Sam struggles with taking too much on and misses her carefree single days when it was her and Nell against the world. She’s torn between her big work goals and missing the person she was before the kids and the big job. Hopefully, having Nell back will help her find that balance.

Lauren Ash will play a new character, Lexi, the daughter of a wealthy newspaper owner and recently appointed editor. Lexi was raised in a rarefied world of boarding schools and private planes and is comedically out of touch with how normal people live. A former almost-Olympian horse jumper, Lexi exudes extreme confidence.

But the truth is she’s in way over her head and if the newspaper fails, she’ll never win her father’s approval – something she desperately wants. Casey Johnson and David Windsor are the creators and executive producers. Also executive producing is Gina Rodriguez, Dean Holland, and Wonderland Sound and Vision’s McG, Mary Viola, and Corey Marsh. The series is produced by 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios.

“We have loved being a part of the ABC/Disney family for many years and our experience making the pilot of Not Dead Yet with everyone at 20th was one of the best in our career,” said Windsor and Johnson. “The studio was incredibly supportive from day one. We could not be more excited to continue our partnership with Dana, Karey, Sharon, Carolyn, and their amazing teams and look forward to creating shows on both the comedy and drama sides.” Also adding, “David and Casey are incredibly important writers to us who have done it all – from the soulful, This Is Us to the wonderful Real O’Neals and the outrageous Don’t Trust the B – and now the’ve done it again with Not Dead Yet, a wildly inventive series,” said Karey Burke, President, 20th Television. “We love working with them and this deal ensures they will continue to create for this studio for many years to come.”

We’d also like to acknowledge that, as of January 24, 2023, the exact titles and synopses of the first two episodes, which will air on the same day and later with brand new episodes on a weekly basis, have been announced. The network will make those details available when they are scheduled to air on the streaming service. As a result, we advise fans to be patient while they await this information, which will be released in the coming weeks. Take a look at the following guide for the first two episodes:

Episode 1: Pilot – February 8, 2023: Nell attempts to restart her life in a new place with a new job writing obituaries at the local paper and a new roommate; Nell receives life advice from an unlikely source.
