Will there be another season of Ordinary Joe? Read on to find out more about Ordinary Joe Season 2.
Ordinary Joe is a drama series that focuses on Joe Kimbreau as he makes a very important and life-changing decision at his graduation from Syracuse University. The show centers on him on three parallel timelines, 10 years later after his graduation. The first one is as a police officer, in which he follows his father’s footsteps, the second timeline is as a music star, in which he follows his passion, and the third timeline is as a nurse, in which he marries his college sweetheart.
This show gives a very crucial message that what one does in a single moment can change the ultimate course of his/her life, and that’s what life is, the continuous struggle to make the right choices.
The series was premiered on September 20, 2021, and is produced by 20th Television and Universal Television. It is co-developed and co-executive produced by Garrett Lerner and Russel Friend. Fans of the show are worried about the future of the series and if the show will ever return for a second season.
Here’s everything you need to know about Ordinary Joe Season 2.
Is Ordinary Joe Season 2 renewed or canceled?
Unfortunately, the series will not return for a second season. NBC has decided not to move forward with the second season of Ordinary Joe, starring Jimmy Wolk, according to a report by Deadline. The news isn’t surprising as the series did not perform well and ranked as NBC’s lowest-rated drama of the season. The news of the cancelation came back in March, and we are now left with several questions about the three timelines and what could have happened next.
Ordinary Joe Season 2 Release Date
Since the series is canceled after the first season, there is no release date for Ordinary Joe Season 2. Reeves, who also co-created the Felicity, has revealed that the show was partly inspired by a crossroads in his career.
He told EW, “This idea hit me personally, wondering about the choices that you could have made, I was looking to do a story that was in the world of the kind of drama that Felicity was in. I love those kinds of serialized stories about the intimate moments in characters’ lives.”
“Everybody has that moment where they look back and they think about certain crossroads. They think, ‘God, I could have done this. I could’ve done that. And what would my life be like?’ I really wanted to do a show that sort of embraced the idea of how we’re not in control of our lives. You’re in control of your choices, but you’re not in control of the timing of things.”

Very disappointed with @nbc right now. Can't believe they're not renewing #OrdinaryJoe so disappointed. Hope another network picks it up. It was one of the best and one of my favorite shows. @ojwritersNBC @IanDeitch @sbaidwan @Abdaddy @curlyranson @JamesWolk @RusselFriend

This is such sad news. What a beautiful, ambitious show you guys created, that brought so much necessary representation to primetime tv. I will always wonder where Christopher (Lucas, & Zeke) ends up. Thank you for creating a show where my son could see someone like him on tv❤️

Ordinary Joe Season 2: What could have been the story?
At the end of the first season, after nearly dying, Joe, with a music career, gets a visit from Jenny, and he realizes how messed up he actually is. What followed was a series of confessions, and later, Joe entered rehab but didn’t stay there for long and left the place in the last episode to come to Jenny’s door and confess that he wanted to live with her.
Joe, with a cop career, proposed to Amy after she declared that she was moving to Miami. Nurse Joe surprised Jenny in Atlanta and asked her to renew their vows. But what he didn’t know is that Barrett made a big proposal to her, to stay there and start a firm with him.
In the end, each Joe’s future was clearly set up. In Ordinary Joe Season 2, we could’ve seen more of Joe’s confusion and what ultimate decisions he would take that will drive the way of his life in a particular direction. But since Ordinary Joe Season 2 isn’t happening, that won’t be possible now.
Ordinary Joe Season 2 Cast
If the series ever gets renewed, we expect the main cast to return, including:
James Wolk as Joe Kimbreau
Natalie Martinez as Amy Kindelan
Elizabeth Lail as Jenny Banks
Charlie Barnett as Eric Payne
David Warshofsky as Frank Kimbreau
Anne Ramsay as Gwen Kimbreau
Adam Rodriguez as Bobby Diaz
Christine Adams as Regina Diaz
