Outer Range Season 2: Is it renewed or canceled?
Outer Range was renewed for a second season in October 2022. Charles Murray (Sons of Anarchy, Luke Cage), who has an overall deal with Amazon Studios, will take over for creator Brian Watkins as showrunner. Outer Range Season 2: When will the new season be released?
The prospective premiere date has yet to be acknowledged, and the production status is neither here nor there. But if we have to predict the potential release date, it might happen sometime around early to mid-2023, just like the first season, where the very first episode, “The Void,” aired on April 15, 2022. Moreover, it is expected to have the same episode count of 8 episodes with an approximate runtime of 43 to 62 minutes.
Moreover, the first two episodes are expected to be released on the same day, followed by new episodes every week until the season ends. So, if the network decides that the next season will follow the same pattern and time frame for viewers, it will go on the same steps as its predecessor. The website’s consensus reads, “Outer Range‘s plethora of subplots threaten to get sucked into a wormhole of ponderousness, but at least this sci-fi Western is anything but plain.” Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 60 out of 100 based on 23 critics, indicating “mixed or average reviews.”
The eight-episode first season kicked off in April and followed Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin), a rancher fighting for his land and family, who discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of Wyoming’s wilderness. At the onset of the series, the Abbotts are coping with the disappearance of their daughter-in-law Rebecca.
They are pushed further to the brink when the Tillersons (the gaudy owners of the neighboring profit-driven ranch) make a play for their land. An untimely death in the community sets off a chain of tension-filled events, and seemingly small-town, soil-bound troubles come to a head with the arrival of a mysterious black void in the Abbotts’ west pasture.
