The summer of 2023 will be more joyful than ever! Here’s everything we know about Outlander Season 7 so far.
As the new season is on its way later this year, many fans have been left speculating about what happens next. Even though they know there is still time to pass, the Outlander team has not left their fans hanging! They’re just in time for Valentine’s Day to cheer up fans and get them excited for the new season.
As, the Starz network, a few hours ago released the latest iteration of the Outlander opening title sequence as a treat for fans, which features “The Skye Boat Song,” the series’ iconic theme song, adapted for each season, drawing inspiration from forthcoming storylines which shows both the series’ Scottish origins and American future!
According to the official press release by the network, Grammy-winning artist Sinead O’Connor created and performed this season’s interpretation. “We are honored to have Sinead O’Connor performing ‘The Skye Boat Song.’ Her rendition is, for me, a reminder of all that’s beautiful about Outlander. She is talented beyond measure. Hers is a voice of the ages-one which pierces heart and soul and embodies the spirit of the show,” says Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner and executive producer. Outlander Season 7: When will the new season premiere on Starz?
If you recall, Outlander Season 7 was announced back on March 14, 2021. Since then, the prospective premiere date has yet to be acknowledged, but the release window of the upcoming season has been confirmed to be sometime around the summer of 2023 on Starz. Additionally, the production for season seven began in April 2022, while filming began in May 2022 in Scotland.
On the other hand, it is expected that the new episodes will premiere in the same time slot of 9 p.m. ET on a weekly basis. We would like to highlight that this is just speculation at this point in time!
So, the fans will have to be patient as everything will be confirmed by the network in the coming months. In addition to this, when available to stream, Outlander Season 7, along with all the previous seasons, will be available to stream on STARZ and the STARZ app, with new episodes, most likely premiering on Sunday nights.

Outlander Season 7: What can the fans expect in the new season?
The seventh season is being made based on a book titled, “An Echo in the Bone,” which is the seventh book in the Outlander series of novels by Diana Gabaldon. The book follows the adventures of Claire and Jamie Fraser continue in America during the Revolution, joined variously by their nephew Ian Murray, longtime friend Lord John Grey, and Jamie’s illegitimate son, William Ransom. The plot also follows Jamie and Claire’s daughter Brianna and her husband Roger MacKenzie, who have finally managed to return to the 20th century with their two young children, Jeremiah and Mandy.
Additionally, it has been confirmed that Season 7 will be super-sized and will feature 16 episodes which are more than the sixth season which has only 8 episodes. On the other hand, “One of the many joys of our epic story is the element of time travel which allows us to revisit some of our favorite characters in different times and places, and we’re thrilled to welcome back so many familiar faces for season seven,” said Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner, writer, and executive producer, in a statement.

“In addition to our returning cast, we’re also excited to welcome several new actors to the Outlander family and cannot wait to introduce them to fans in our extended season.”
The cast members who will reprise their roles with some new members are as follows: Caitríona Balfe as Claire Randall Fraser, Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser, Richard Rankin as Roger Wakefield, Sophie Skelton as Brianna Randall, John Bell as Young Ian Murray, David Berry as Lord John Grey, Caitlin O’Ryan as Lizzie Wemyss Beardsley, Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom, Maria Doyle Kennedy as Jocasta Cameron Innes, Mark Lewis Jones as Thomas Christie, Alexander Vlahos as Allan Christie, Paul Gorman as Josiah and Keziah Beardsley, and Andrew Adair and Matthew Adair as Jemmy MacKenzie.
Several new actors will be joining the cast too, including Gloria Obianyo as Mercy Woodcock, a free Black woman navigating the hardships of life in Colonial America; Rod Hallett as Benedict Arnold, the notorious Revolutionary soldier, turned traitor; Chris Fulton as Rob Cameron, a new acquaintance of Roger and Brianna; Diarmaid Murtagh as Buck MacKenzie, the illegitimate son of Dougal MacKenzie and Geillis Duncan, and Roger’s ancestor, a role previously played by Graham McTavish in season five, and Kristin Atherton as Jenny Murray, Jamie’s sister, and Young Ian’s mother, a role originated by Laura Donnelly in seasons one through three.

Outlander Season 7 Official Teaser Trailer
The new season’s official teaser trailer of 49 seconds was released back on December 23, 2022, which gives glimpses into the future plotlines with a tagline stating, “Dream not only of the past but also of the future.” The television series is inspired by Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling books, which have sold an estimated 50 million copies worldwide, with all nine of the books gracing the New York Times best-seller list.
