P-Valley Season 3 is not coming in March 2023

When will the new season premiere on Starz? Here is everything we know about P-Valley Season 3.

It’s been months since the series was renewed for a third season in October 2022, and fans are getting impatient as more days pass, which is not a shock as we’re already two months into the new year with no update or information on whether or not the highly anticipated third season will return!

To get the point across, it appears that the Starz network is not in a rush to premiere the show. As per many recent reports, in the midst of a complicated separation from Lionsgate, there has been a delay in releasing several already-filmed shows, which makes the scenario tougher than usual.

Among these shows, the third season of P-Valley has also been put on hold by the Starz network, which hasn’t made much headway as the series’ filming status is also in doubt! There has been no acknowledgement of the production status, indicating that the show is still a long way from premiering a new episode in March 2023.

But for your consideration, if we have to speculate, our best guess is that if the series hopefully starts filming sometime between mid- and late-2023, then it will definitely premiere next year around early to mid-2024! As a result, it is unlikely to make its debut this year, and the fans will have to be patient and keep a close eye on updates on social media.

P-Valley Season 3: What can the fans expect in the new season?

It is expected to pick up the plot from the second season which follows, “When darkness descends upon Chucalissa; everybody and their mama must fight tooth and talon to survive. While some fly to new heights, others dig in their stilettos and stand firm.” It has mainly positive critical reception. It holds a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on ten critic ratings with an average rating of 8.0/10. Furthermore, the final episode, “Mississippi Rule,” will contribute to the story from the cliffhanger that showed Chucalissa is full of new beginnings and endings.

“‘P-Valley’ continues to keep viewers on the edge of their seats as it captures the nuances of the Mississippi Delta with an unprecedented level of humanity and artistry,” said Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming, STARZ. “This layered drama gets beyond the glitz through authentic and complex characters that have captured the hearts of critics and audiences alike. We cannot wait to see what Katori has in store for us in season three.”

While no plot details for Season 3 have been revealed, Hall did speak with Collider in August about her writing process. Though she called the Season 2 finale “a really great way to end,” she admitted that the characters are “constantly talking” to her. “I always have ideas.” On the other hand, Hall also revealed a few such ideas for one specific character, Mercedes, to Elle.

“I want her to have everything,” she said. “I want her to have a wonderful relationship with her daughter. I want her to have a wonderful relationship with her mother. They probably need to go to therapy. They need to do all the things. They can’t just be in hood therapy, they need to get a doctor in there. Also, just thinking about the huge impact the absence of her father has had on her, if she is able to find him and begin building those blocks, I would love for her to have a great relationship with him.”

The series cast who will return are as follows Nicco Annan, Elarica Johnson, Brandee Evans, Shannon Thornton, J. Alphonse Nicholson, Parker Sawyers, Harriett D. Foy, Dan J. Johnson, Morocco Omari, Dominic DeVore, Tyler Lepley, Jordan M. Cox, Skyler Joy, John Clarence Stewart, Miracle Watts, Shamika Cotton, Gail Bean, Psalms Salazar, Loretta Devine, Thomas Q. Jones, and Bertram Williams, Jr. “P-Valley” was created by Pulitzer Prize winner Katori Hall, based on her play “Pussy Valley.”

In addition to creating the series, Hall serves as executive producer and showrunner. Dante Di Loreto also executive produces. Lionsgate Television is the studio. In the meantime, check out the official trailer of the second season below to recall all the plotlines before tuning into the new one:
