Is it time to say goodbye to the Shelbys? Read on to find out more about Peaky Blinders Season 7.

Peaky Blinders is a crime drama series that follows the Peaky Blinders crime gang in the direct aftermath of the First World War. It is set in Birmingham, England, and, is centered on a crime family of mixed Irish Catholic and Romani origins. It focuses on the criminal gang who sew razor blades in the peaks of their caps and their boss, Tommy Shelby. It follows the gang after they come back from the first world war.

The story begins as Detective Inspector Campbell is sent to recover the stolen weapons and supposedly clean up the city. As the story progresses, Thomas tries to grow his business further, and soon, he was recruited by Campbell to do the elimination and uses it as an opportunity for his and Peaky Blinder’s benefit. Later, Shelby turns into a politician and new problems and challenges arise for him.

The series premiered on September 12, 2013, and the latest sixth season premiered on June 10, 2022, on Netflix. Fans are already wondering about the possibility of another season and if they will get to see more of the Shelbys in the future. If you’re also wondering the same, we’ve got you covered.

Here’s everything you need to know about Peaky Blinders Season 7.

Peaky Blinders Season 7

Will there be a Season 7 of Peaky Blinders?

No, it hurts to admit but the truth is the series won’t be returning for a seventh season. In early 2021, on BBC News, Steven Knight revealed: “The original intention was to do seven series, but COVID has stolen a year from us, and we felt what would be a great idea is to, almost in place of that seventh series, is to go onto the big screen.”

Also, the tragic death of the beloved actress Helen McCrory, who played Polly Gray in the series, caused plans for the series to end with the sixth season. He told the RadioTimes, “We just felt, also with the loss of Helen [McCrory], that it all seemed to be pointing towards doing what I’m calling ‘the end of the beginning. Let’s end the beginning, then let’s do the film. And then let’s see where we go in terms of spin-offs.”

Peaky Blinders Season 7

So, while there won’t be a Season 7, we will definitely have a movie on the same. That’s some good news, right?

Peaky Blinder Season 7 Release Date

Since the series has been canceled, Peaky Blinders Season 7 won’t happen, and hence, there is no release date for the same. However, the good news is a movie is in the works with creator Steven Knight. He told Digital Spy, in an interview, “I love doing it. I love the world. We were originally going to end it with this series, but I just thought that there are so many people who are just getting into it now. It’d be such a shame to stop.”

The Peaky Blinders movie doesn’t have a name yet, but we know that the movie will go into production in 2023, and considering it generally took six months of filming and another six months of post-production activities, the movie can arrive anytime in late 2024.

Peaky Blinders Season 7: What could have been the plot?

In Season 6, Tommy returns as the criminal mastermind who is always ahead of his enemies. He brings his illegitimate son Duke into his family as a true Peaky Blinder and gives him and Isiah the work to kill Billy Grade and remove Finn from the group. Tommy also prevents the assassination of Arthur and their plan leads to a stand-off between Arthur, Charlie, and Jeremiah against Laura McKee, and her IRA band.

In the finale, Tommy visits Canada with Johny Dogs and escapes his own assassination by moving the bomb to a different car and shooting Michael. In the end, Tommy hands his role to Ada and goes off into the wilderness to die with his horses, believing that he has Tuberculoma. But then, a message from his dead daughter Ruby provided some clarity that gave him a new way of life.

It was later revealed that Tommy had no disease, and it was all a ruse. If Peaky Blinders Season 7 was ever to happen, we could have seen more of the Shelbys and if there were new obstacles waiting for them. But since the series is canceled, that’s not possible now.
