Pennyworth Season 3 Release Date
In October 2021, the show aired its first two seasons on Epix before it was announced last year that it would move to sibling streamer HBO Max for its third season. After months of waiting, the network has officially confirmed that the series will return this year in the fall season. The exact release date of the upcoming season is not released as of August 18, 2022. But it is speculated to be released on October 6, 2022.
The third season is marketed with the subtitle The Origin of Batman’s Butler. Moreover, the viewers can expect weekly new episodes to air on HBO Max if the third season follows the same release pattern as the prior two seasons. On August 10, 2022, the official Twitter handle of the series shared a clip hinting at the release window of Pennyworth Season 3, quoting, “Alfred at your service. Pennyworth Season 3 Plot
The DC origin series follows Alfred Pennyworth (played by Jack Bannon), a former British SAS soldier who formed a security company in 1960s London and went to work with young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge) and his wife Martha (Emma Paetz) — before they become Bruce Wayne’s parents. In the same manner, Pennyworth Season 3 will follow the psychological thriller that begins after a five-year time jump, where the civil war is over, and a cultural revolution has changed the world for better or worse, “ushering in a new age of superheroes and supervillains.”
The upcoming season is also expected to continue the plotline from the last episode of the second season, The Lion and Lamb, which was released on April 11, 2021. The episode is directed by Rob Bailey and written by Bruno Heller. In the finale episode, the viewers get to see that Mrs. Pennyworth’s husband is still alive. At the League headquarters, everyone is having a good time when Gully bursts in looking for Alfred and accidentally destroys the capsule, revealing it to be inactive.
Salt, preparing to explode it despite the League’s surrender, arrested General Thursday after learning that Stormcloud was already in London. When Martha agrees to marry Thomas, Aziz does so immediately. Mr. Pennyworth informs Alfred that Stormcloud was smuggled into London inside Lord Harwood’s coffin after having second thoughts about sacrificing his family for his cause. The bomb is found by Alfred and Daveboy, and Lucius tries to defuse it. While being ambushed and beaten up by the Sykes sisters in his apartment, Salt nevertheless manages to retrieve the detonator and set it off.
Gully agrees to take the capsule instead of Alfred, preventing the explosion but causing him to turn blue and pass away. After saying his final goodbyes to his wife, Mr. Pennyworth turns off his life support and passes away. Martha gives birth to a baby girl when the New Raven Alliance, led by Frances Gaunt, attacks London six months later. Together with Daveboy, Bet, Kathie, and a regenerated Gully who now possesses life-draining abilities, Alfred leads the counterattack.
