Physical Season 3 Official Release Date
After months of speculation, the wait for the much-anticipated third season of Physical has finally ended, as the official premiere date for the new season has been set for Wednesday, August 2, 2023, on Apple TV+. To say the least, this release date perfectly sets the tone for a summer streaming season, as it has been reported to be the final season of this comedy-drama television series, which is hailed by creator, writer, and executive producer Annie Weisman.
Even though it will be exciting to see how the story unfolds, it will be bittersweet to say goodbye to the beloved characters. But sometimes the journey has to end, and right now it seems ideal to conclude as a trilogy.
Physical Season 3 Plot
Set in the idyllic but fragile beach paradise of sunny 1980s San Diego, “Physical” is a half-hour dark comedy following Sheila Rubin, a quietly tortured, seemingly dutiful housewife supporting her smart but controversial husband’s bid for state assembly. But behind closed doors, Sheila has her own darkly funny take on life she rarely lets the world see. She’s also battling a complex set of personal demons relating to her self-image… that is until she finds release through the unlikeliest source: the world of aerobics.
At first, hooked on the exercise itself, Sheila’s real road to empowerment comes when she discovers a way to merge this newfound passion with the burgeoning technology of videotape to start a revolutionary business. The series tracks her epic journey from a stifled, overlooked enabler to a powerful, confident economic force, as Sheila transforms into someone we take for granted today (but was entirely radical at the time) — the female lifestyle guru.
“We are so grateful to Apple, Tomorrow Studios, and all our creative collaborators for the chance to bring Sheila to life in all her gritty glory,” said star and executive producer Rose Byrne and creator, writer, and executive producer Annie Weisman. “With this final season, Sheila’s three-act saga of rebellion, recovery, and redemption comes to the satisfying conclusion that she and her fans so richly deserve. We feel so proud to share this last chapter with everyone.”
“Over the course of three enthralling seasons of ‘Physical,’ we have been honored to work with Annie Weisman and Tomorrow Studios to bring Sheila Rubin’s journey of transformation and personal empowerment to the screen through Rose Byrne’s fearless, moving, and often very funny, portrayal,” said Matt Cherniss. “We are aware of just how much of an impact this character and story has had on audiences around the world and can’t wait for them to join us on this final exhilarating ride that culminates in an immensely rewarding finale for this celebrated series.”

“Physical” is produced by Tomorrow Studios (an ITV Studios partnership). Created, written, and executive produced by Weisman, who also serves as showrunner. This series is directed by Stephanie Laing, who also serves as executive producer along with Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements for Tomorrow Studios, Craig Gillespie, and Byrne. Physical Season 3 Official Trailer
The network hasn’t released any teasers or trailers for the third and final season, so we urge readers to stream the previous season to be up-to-date with the plotlines and character arcs, which will definitely delve you right into this world as Sheila is back and more committed than ever to building her empire. The upcoming season, despite being the last one, will definitely pick up from the events of the second season, which followed:
“Season two finds our hero Sheila Rubin (Byrne) having successfully launched her first fitness video, only to encounter some new and bigger obstacles on her path. She is torn between loyalty to her husband (Rory Scovel) and the values he represents and a dangerous attraction to someone else.
