According to Deadline, the hit freshman series which is the reboot of the popular 1990s sci-fi drama was renewed for a second season, the network announced Monday. The renewal comes midway through the series’ first season which has seen solid ratings. the Quantum Leap pilot is currently up to a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and 10.8 million viewers across linear, digital, and streaming platforms, according to Nielsen and the network. The reboot is NBC’s best-ever drama launch on Peacock and is the #2 new broadcast show of the season in the 18-49 demo.
“We’re leaping into a second season thanks to the incredible work by our cast, producers, writers and everyone who has played a role in giving this iconic NBC series a new life,” said Lisa Katz, President, Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Television, and Streaming. Further adding, “As we continue to bring audiences to our must-watch dramas, it’s gratifying to know Quantum Leap will have a prominent place next season both on our NBC schedule and the next day on Peacock.”
Quantum Leap Season 2 Release Date and Time Slot
The prospective premiere date has yet to be acknowledged. But if we have to predict the potential release date of Quantum Leap Season 2, it might happen sometime around late 2023 or 2024. - Nanrisa Lee as Jenn Chou: Quantum Leap head of security.
- Ernie Hudson as Herbert “Magic” Williams: Head of the Quantum Leap time travel project, and a Vietnam War veteran who Sam Beckett leaped into in the original series season three episode “The Leap Home (Part 2) – Vietnam”. Hudson replaces Christopher Kirby from the original episode.
The recurring cast member of the series who is also expected to reprise the role is Georgina Reilly as Janis Calavicci, the daughter of Al Calavicci from the original series. Martin Gero serves as executive producer along with Dean Georgaris, Don Bellisario, Deborah Pratt, Chris Grismer, Steven Lilien, and Bryan Wynbrandt. The forthcoming season is expected to have 20 to 22 episodes which are expected to drop on subsequent Mondays.
