Is HBO Max’s popular comedy series returning for another season? Read on to find out more about Rap Sh!t Season 2.
The first season’s last episode, Something for The Road, was released on September 1, 2022. Since then, the fans of the TV series have been wondering if the show would get an early renewal or not. A major TV network like HBO Max usually takes time to consider all the factors before approving another season. The great news is that the fans can be relieved as the show has been greenlit.
The renewal was signposted earlier this summer when, days ahead of its launch, it was awarded over $12.6M in small screen tax credits from the state of California to move the Miami-set series west for a sophomore run. On the other hand, the reviews of the series have overall been great, which makes it an easy decision for the network to continue the series for another season.
It was reported that “Rap Sh!t” was met with a very positive response to critical acclaim from critics. The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reported a 100% approval rating with an average rating of 7.4/10, based on 18 critical reviews. The website’s critics’ consensus reads, “Issa Rae’s razor-sharp sensibility is fully felt in Rap Sh!t, a raucous chronicle of female camaraderie and youthful ambition.”
Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 80 out of 100 based on 13 critics, indicating “generally favorable reviews”. This is exciting as the holdup for the fans won’t last too long now because we have all the details to share! Take a look at this quick rundown of everything you need to know about the release date, plot, and cast, so you can get a head start on the next installment and be prepared before the series airs on HBO Max.

The finale episode, Something for The Road, was released on September 1, 2022. The episode is directed by Jay Ellis and written by Issa Rae & Syreeta Singleton.
