Was it the last time we saw Ratched in the eighth episode of Ratched Season 1? After the hit Season 1, fans have been eagerly waiting and continuously enquiring about Ratched Season 2 to get nurse Ratched back on the screens. After the launch of Season 1 in fall 2020, the makers have not said much about Season 2.
Ratched Season 2: Is it happening?
Initially, the makers of the Netflix original series Ratched announced two seasons of the dark story. In a recent interview with Variety, Sarah Paulson, the lead actress in Ratched, tells them she doesn’t know if a second season is in the works or not. According to her words, the show might not return for a second season this year. After radio silence for two years, can we expect Ratched Season 2 coming up? Recently, Sarah took a year off work. So, we know that she has not worked on Ratched since last year.
This simply means that we know for a fact that Ratched Season 2 is not coming to Netflix anytime soon, surely not in August.
The Netflix original series Ratched is inspired by the iconic and unforgettable character of Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. Apart from Sarah Paulson starring as Nurse Mildred Ratched, we saw Cynthia Nixon as Gwendolyn Briggs, Judy Davis as Nurse Betsy Bucket, Sharon Stone as Lenore Osgood, Sophie Okonedo as Charlotte, Jon Jon Briones as Dr. Richard Hanover, Finn Wittrock as Edmund Tolleson, Charlie Carver as Huck, Alice Englert as Dolly, Amanda Plummer as Louise, Corey Stoll as Charles Wainwright, and Vincent D’Onofrio as Gov. George Wilburn.Earlier, Ryan Murphy had mapped out a four-season origin arc for the series, where Paulson’s nurse would face off against a different adversary each season. As per the plan, the fourth and final season would be seen blending Cuckoo’s Nest into the narrative.
The series made its debut on Netflix on September 18, 2020. Since then, it has released eight super-hit episodes in Season 1. The first season dates back to 1947, when Mildred Ratched begins working as a nurse at a leading psychiatric hospital. But beneath her stylish exterior lurks growing darkness.
If you ever check out the Twitter and Instagram pages of Ratched Netflix, you’ll notice the utter silence these people have maintained for months. On all the recent posts, you will find fans commenting to ask for the arrival of Season 2. So far, Netflix and the makers have not made any announcements related to the writing or casting of Ratched Season 2.
Ratched Season 1 has a hit, no doubt. On October 16, 2020, Netflix tweeted the picture of Nurse Ratched, writing: In its first 28 days, 48 million members have booked an appointment with Nurse Ratched, making it our biggest original Season 1 of the year.”

Ratched Season 1 follows the nurse’s devolution from a nurse to a full-fledged monster as she makes her way up through the mental health care system. The story begins when Mildred arrives in Northern California to seek employment at a leading psychiatric hospital where new and unsettling experiments have begun on the human mind.
If Season 2 comes up, it will be interesting to find out the cast, new or old. For stars like Cynthia Nixon and Finn Wittrock, will they be able to make some space from their schedule while they are working on other projects?
