Red Velvet postpones their first in-person concert in two years due to three members testing COVID-19 positive.

On March 14, 2022, SM Entertainment announced that Red Velvet members Irene, Joy, and Yeri tested positive for COVID-19. This led to the group postponing their upcoming concert 2022 The ReVe Festival: Prologue which was supposed to kick off on March 19.

The official statement reads: “Hello, this is SM Entertainment. Red Velvet’s Irene, Joy, and Yeri recently received positive results from COVID-19 self-testing kits that they used preemptively, so they carried out PCR tests and were confirmed positive this past weekend. Irene, Joy, and Yeri have completed the second doses of their COVID-19 vaccines. They are currently carrying out at-home treatment, and they are not exhibiting any particular symptoms. Seulgi and Wendy received negative results even with their additional tests.”

The statement continued, “As a result, Red Velvet’s special live event “2022 The ReVe Festival : Prologue” scheduled for March 19 and 20 has inevitably been postponed tentatively, and all tickets will be fully refunded. The future status of the event will be decided after reviewing the COVID-19 situation and the artists’ health. In addition, Red Velvet’s new mini album will be released on “The ReVe Festival 2022 – Feel My Rhythm” as scheduled. We will continue to thoroughly comply with disease control guidelines, and with the artists’ health and safety as the top priorities, we will do our best in order for them to be able to focus on their treatment and recovery. Thank you.”

This would have been the group’s first in-person concert since their third concert La Rogue in February 2020.

Fortunately, Red Velvet’s new mini-album, The ReVe Festivel 2022 – Feel My Rythm will be released as scheduled on March 21, 2022, at 6:00 PM KST.

The group released the first teaser of the comeback as an animation poster. As usual, fans are extremely curious as to what concept is Red Velvet going for this time. All they can do right now is try and connect the teaser to their previous releases and make-up fan theories.

The group further released individual teasers, where all the members were dressed like ballerina dolls, looking breathtaking.

Red Velvet is a five-membered girl group under SM Entertainment. The group consists of Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri. The group made its official debut in August 2014, though Yeri joined the group in 2015 with the release of Red Velvet’s mini-album Ice Cream Cake.

Red Velvet is known for constantly experimenting with new concepts and musical genres. They have worked on over 31 genres in their career so far. The members are also recognized as visual queens of the third generation K-pop, with all of them being ethereal beauties. Even when the group debuted fans were genuinely confused that which member held the position of the official visual.
