The series renewal was announced prior to the show’s Season 2 finale on September 28, 2022. Since then, the exact premiere date has yet to be announced, and the production has yet to begin. On the other hand, the latest reports suggest that the new season will begin filming in March 2023, but this has not been officially announced, so take it with a grain of salt.
In addition to this, many fans have speculated that the new season, will be released exclusively on Hulu this year. As, all the previous seasons have a similar year gap, so the likely month is around August 2023. However, this is just speculation that the next season will follow the same pattern and be released around the same time. Reservation Dogs Season 3: What to expect?
The series follows the lives of four Indigenous teenagers in rural Oklahoma, as they spend their days committing a crime and fighting it. After the death of their friend Daniel one year prior to the events of the series, the gang wrestles with a desire to move to California, the way Daniel dreamed of doing. But first, they need to tie up loose ends in their lives and community and make preparations to leave.
In Season 2, the Rez Dogs are still experiencing grief over the loss of their friend, now compounded by the foursome being broken apart and scattered, and missing each other. The “California dream” does not turn out the way they expected, resulting in more feelings of disappointment and abandonment. While they cope using humor, they also face increasingly more adult challenges. Financial and family responsibilities arise as they continue to try to figure out their lives.
While no major plotlines of the third season have been confirmed by the show’s creators which will take some time to disclose. Recently, in an interview, Sterlin Harjo stated that there will be darkness in the third season. After everything that audiences have seen the gang go through in the last two years, it’s difficult to imagine what trials they’ll face next; however, we know that they’ll be expertly balanced out with plenty of jokes and laughter. It appears that Harjo wants the Season 3 audience to be unsure of where the story is going which is going to be even crazier than the previous seasons.
Until then, the fans will have to just wait and watch! Moreover, the upcoming season is also expected to have about 8 to 10 episodes with runtimes ranging from 25 to 30 minutes, just like the last two seasons, which will be released on a weekly basis. We’d also like to emphasize that the exact titles and synopsis for the episodes have yet to be confirmed. It is assumed that these details will be publicized when the episodes are close to airing on the streaming service to avoid any early spoilers.
The main cast members of the series who are expected to reprise their roles are Devery Jacobs as Elora Danan Postoak, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai as Bear Smallhill, Lane Factor as Chester “Cheese” Williams, and Paulina Alexis as Wilhelmina “Willie Jack” Jacqueline Sampson. Some new characters can also be introduced, which will be disclosed later. Harjo co-created “Reservation Dogs” with Taika Waititi. Both serve as executive producers, along with Garrett Basch. Harjo also serves as showrunner and director on the show. It is produced by FX Productions.
When available to stream, Reservation Dogs Season 3, along with the prior seasons, will be available on the FX network and on Hulu. The other seasons will also be accessible on Hotstar for Indian viewers. Moreover, the viewers can also stream the show by renting or purchasing it on iTunes, Vudu, and Google Play, depending on their location and membership plans, which they can choose from to renew their accounts and watch the series.
