Britani Bateman is publicly responding after fellow Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member Meredith Marks made disparaging remarks about her and co-star Whitney Rose.

Throughout the promotional run for the current season of the Bravo series, Marks has repeatedly referred to Bateman and Rose using derogatory nicknames. Specifically, she has called Bateman “S–tani 2” and Rose “S–tney 1” — comments that Bateman says are uncalled for.

“I think it’s crass and I think it’s beneath her,” Bateman told Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast in an exclusive interview. “She’s a smart lady. She doesn’t need to stoop that low.”

The friction between Bateman and Marks dates back to Season 5 of RHOSLC, when Bateman, a “friend of” a cast member, was accused by Marks of covertly recording a heated confrontation among the women during a shared bus ride. Bateman has consistently denied any wrongdoing, maintaining that the situation was a misunderstanding.

Despite her explanation, the incident appeared to cement a lasting conflict between the two women. The tension has since continued into the current season, where Marks has escalated matters by using mocking nicknames and continuing to criticize Bateman both on- and off-screen.

Bateman, a singer and performer, is relatively new to the franchise but has already found herself at the center of multiple disputes. However, she emphasizes that she tries to remain respectful in the face of drama, a mindset she says is shaped by her conservative upbringing in the Mormon faith.

“I wasn’t even allowed to say ‘shut up,’” Bateman recalled during the interview. “Yeah, like that’s how Mormon we were growing up, which I love and I raised my kids like that too. And I love that.”

She suggested that her values inform how she chooses to handle conflict on the show, adding that while she is willing to participate in group dynamics, she draws the line at personal attacks or name-calling.

Marks, one of the original cast members of RHOSLC, has built a reputation for her sharp comments and strategic use of language during cast feuds. Her use of the “S–tani” and “S–tney” labels has drawn attention among fans, many of whom have taken to social media to debate the ongoing rivalry.

While Bateman did not go into further detail about her relationship with Marks, she made it clear that she does not appreciate the tone Marks has adopted. She also indicated that the rift between them remains unresolved, and it may continue to play out in future episodes.

Bateman’s comments come as Season 6 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City continues to air on Bravo. The series has remained one of the network’s most talked-about franchises, with ongoing cast shake-ups and interpersonal drama driving interest. Bateman joined the show in a supporting capacity, but her increasing involvement in major storylines has made her a visible presence in the ensemble.

As the season progresses, viewers can expect more developments in the ongoing feud between Bateman and Marks, particularly as both women remain firm in their opposing views of the bus incident and each other’s behavior.
