Riverdale Season 7: Is it renewed or canceled?

When a television series has aired for six seasons, it is considered a go-to franchise for any major TV network to get a rating from an already established fanbase. However, it is doubtful if the series will be able to sustain its appeal after such a long run. For each season, Riverdale has expanded its storyline in every strange way a television show can. If you were one of the fans that saw every season of Riverdale and are now waiting for Riverdale Season 7, we have got you covered.

Riverdale Season 7: Is it renewed or canceled?

Will there be Season 7 of Riverdale?

Yes, in March 2022, the series was renewed for a seventh and final season, which is set to premiere in 2023. The CW network announced that Season 7 of Riverdale would be the last season of the TV series, signifying that the series would be back for another season, but unfortunately, it will be the last. It’s imperative to note that many CW original series have been discontinued, even though the series had a significant fanbase.

According to Deadline, the CW boss Mark Pedowitz on Thursday morning said that he thinks “seven years is the right amount.” He further added, “I am a big believer of giving series that have had a long run an appropriate send-off. We had a long conversation with Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa] yesterday and he is thrilled with the decision,” Pedowitz said. “We are going to treat the show in the manner it deserves. It’s been an iconic pop culture star and we want to make sure that it goes out the right way.”

The exact release date of Riverdale Season 7 is yet to be confirmed by the CW as of August 1, 2022. The sixth season just ended a few hours ago, but on the bright side, the next season is speculated to begin production in a scheduled manner like the last season. So, the fans seem to be assured that the upcoming season is not delayed. The next season will be released sooner than they anticipated as the renewal announcement was made by the network on time.

Based on the previous season’s release date pattern, the series’ rollout most likely begins sometime around mid-2023. Furthermore, we would want to emphasize that this is all guesswork at this time. Riverdale Season 7 Plot

The upcoming season is expected to pick up from the finale episode of the sixth season, Chapter One Hundred and Seventeen: Night of the Comet. The episode was directed by Gabriel Correa and written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Aaron Allen. In the episode, the viewers got to see that the town of Riverdale is surrounded by a barrier as Bailey’s Comet is on its way there as a result of Percival’s curse. People can still enter, even though they cannot depart.

Abigail is consulted by Heather and Cheryl on how to obliterate the comet. Cheryl intends to utilize her Phoenix abilities to destroy the comet, but one or more of the living dead will perish as a result. When Betty hears about Archie’s plan, she chooses to wait until the comet has passed before saying yes. Jughead and Tabitha embark on a date, and Tabitha uses her chronokinetic powers to imagine Jughead and her having children and spending their latter years together.

Using the bodies of Cheryl and Toni, Heather uses magic to enable Thomasina, the ancestor of Abigail and Toni, to have one final encounter. In order for Cheryl to be able to destroy Comet and preserve everyone’s lives successfully, Veronica intends to syphon the powers of the gang and give them to her.

Jughead is the only one who remembers what occurred before when the citizens of Riverdale were suddenly transported back in time to 1955 the following day. Although it is rumored that this already-established premise will serve as the basis for the Riverdale Season 7 pilot, we are aware of how unpredictable the show’s plot and the characters can be. As a result, the finale season might be something different than the viewers anticipated.
