Similar is the case in American Murder: The Family Next Door – the Netflix documentary which follows the 2018 Watts family murders. Directed by Jenny Popplewell, this Halloween-worthy content came out in September 2020. The film plays out like a mystery beginning with the real footage from the day Chris’s wife Shanann and their children went missing. This movie is a disturbing look at domestic violence that will leave you shocked as Chris and Shanann did not have a picture-perfect marriage life. At the end of the movie, the husband, Chris Watts, turns out to be the murderer and is arrested.

Unsolved Mysteries


This is one of the most talked about series on Netflix as its third season is up. This documentary series follows cold cases that, to this day, have never been answered, as the name suggests, which can be both intriguing and frustrating sometimes. This series titled Unsolved Mysteries began back in the late 1980s and was then brought back multiple times by different networks before being rebooted by Netflix in 2020. The format of the show has remained constant throughout the decades as the current show explores different mysterious cases of true crime and paranormal happenings. The series takes the audience through the explanation of different theories as to what might have happened. But unfortunately, you will never find out what exactly happened. Vallow, Lori’s youngest kids, were found dead almost a year after their disappearance. In the story, you’ll see Chad Daybell, a man who convinces Lori about an upcoming apocalypse. This makes Sins of Our Mother a must-watch during Halloween.
