Will the shapeshifting world of Skrulls return for another season? Continue reading to find out more about the renewals of
Secret Invasion Season 2.
In the Marvel Universe, nothing is as it seems about your favorite superheroes! It’s an exhilarating roller coaster ride where the line between friend and foe becomes blurred beyond recognition. The heroes must navigate a treacherous landscape of deceit, betrayal, and unexpected alliances to save humanity from an imminent threat that hits closer to home, which makes it an exciting new mini-series to watch in recent times in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
This has caused many viewers to speculate whether the show will be renewed or canceled for additional seasons. If you’re wondering the same thing, then you’ve come to the right place. Want to know about any new information about the possible renewal of the series? Look no further, we at Web News Observer have compiled a quick summary of everything you need to know about the current status of the series. So far, here’s all we know about Secret Invasion Season 2.
Is Secret Invasion renewed for Season 2?
The miniseries created by Kyle Bradstreet for the streaming service Disney+, which was based on the 2008 Marvel Comics storyline of the same name, premiered its final episode, “Home,” a few hours ago on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at 3 AM EST/12 AM PT on Disney+ and other streaming platforms for the international audience. The first thought that comes to mind among die-hard MCU fans is that many major studios are attempting to expand the series as a major franchise. Moreover, many series are created with fresh themes for the digital streaming platform, with two or more seasons already approved by the network.
Because of the growing demand from customers who have loved the content provided across genres by many newly established streaming platforms with reasonable subscription options, it is valid for viewers to assume if this series will continue or not. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Secret Invasion, as we can assure the readers that no second season has been planned as it has always been promoted as a mini-series, and to be honest with you, we don’t think it will ever happen! If the finale episode is going to follow the plotlines that have been going on, then we are certain that that show will only be a miniseries!
Moreover, Kevin Feige also stated that Secret Invasion, which is the ninth television series, would lead directly into Armour Wars, with Don Cheadle set to reprise his role as James “Rhodey” Rhodes. Hence, it makes sense why the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) might just move forward with other projects that are still slated to release in order to complete The Multiverse Saga, which has been sharing continuity with the films of the franchise that encompass Phase Four, Phase Five, and Phase Six. The saga began with WandaVision and will conclude with Avengers: Secret Wars to complete the arc of its prominent theme, the Multiverse!
So, there’s no possibility of a second season, as this series has likely completed the overall plot with all the episodes. As a result, the series will not be renewed for a second season as the tale of the show is restricted to the events of the book and cannot be expanded into something that doesn’t follow directly into the next project. All six episodes have covered the majority of the plotlines, leaving no scope to be expanded further. Hence, it seems unlikely that the series has much left to offer! The finale episode seems like the perfect way to move on to the next chapter for those who are interested in the previous shows and movies.
Secret Invasion: What is the show about?
The series is a sequel to Captain Marvel, and it is the twenty-second television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the third installment of Phase Five. The official synopsis states, “In Secret Invasion, set in the present-day MCU, Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos, who have made a life for themselves on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.”
*Spoiler Alert*
In the series finale, “Home,” the viewers get to see Fury confronts Gravik at New Skrullos and gives him the Harvest while asking him to spare Earth and go conquest other planets. Gravik refuses and powers himself up with the Harvest’s DNAs. He attempts to kill Fury with his new powers but discovers that it is G’iah in disguise, who has also gained the same powers as him. The two battle one another, but G’iah eventually gains the upper hand and kills Gravik.
Meanwhile, Raava successfully convinces Ritson to authorize a nuclear strike on New Skrullos but is tricked by Falsworth into arranging an evacuation for Ritson. Falsworth and the real Fury confront Raava and reveal the truth to Ritson. Raava attempts to retaliate but is killed by Fury. Ritson calls off the strike, allowing G’iah to free the humans trapped under New Skrullos, including the real Ross and Rhodes.
In the aftermath, Ritson issues a new bill declaring all off-world species as hostile forces and threatens to hunt down the remaining Skrulls on Earth, causing unrest as civilians publicly murder random high-profile officials. Falsworth meets with G’iah and proposes a partnership to help protect the Skrulls against Ritson’s bill. Fury asks Varra to come to S.A.B.E.R. with him to help negotiate a peace summit with the Kree. She agrees, and they leave Earth together.
