“The holidays have always meant so much to me,” Gomez said in a statement about the new addition to the cooking series. Further adding, “It was an honor to have these amazing chefs in my kitchen to introduce some of their favorite foods and what makes the holidays special for them,” said Gomez, 31, the host of the series.

According to the press release, the celebrity chefs will show Gomez and her best friend, Raquelle Stevens, how they use food to make the holiday season memorable in the four episodes. Moreover, Gomez’s Papa, Nana, and her sister Grace will also appear to make the special a full family occasion. In the episode with Guarnaschelli, “Selena + Alex,” the duo will cook roast beef and mashed potatoes in preparation for a tree-trimming party. In “Selena + Michael,” Gomez and Symon will prepare a surf-and-turf Christmas meal with steak and lobster. In “Selena + Claudette,” Zepeda prepares a Mexican feast featuring tamales. And in “Selena + Eric,” the two celebrate the New Year with a brunch that includes shrimp with banana grits and malva pudding.

If you recall, the show initially started life as an HBO Max original during the pandemic, and ran for four seasons as a Max original, with the fourth season airing last year.

Since then, there has been much chatter all over the web around the major rumors circulating that the series might have been canceled after it didn’t receive early renewal for a fifth season, alongside the slew of other reality shows that were axed after Max moved out of its own unscripted reality originals and canceled a bunch of series due to cost cutting, among other reasons. Much to the fans’ big relief, the series has been saved, as we know by now that this series has moved to the cable network on the Food Network.
