Selena Gomez has seemingly made a thinly-veiled dig at Hailey Bieber’s comments following Rhode’s launch at Sephora in a now-deleted post.
Per a screenshot obtained by Just Jared and TMZ, Gomez wrote, “Just leave the girl alone. She can say whatever she wants. Doesn’t affect my life whatsoever. It’s just about relevance, not intelligence. Be kind”, in a since-deleted post via her Instagram stories.
She later added, “All brands inspire me [and] there is room for everyone, and hopefully we can all stop.”
Additionally, the reports state that the Come & Get It singer deleted her post before sharing snapshots of her upcoming music video glam and a romantic date with husband, Benny Blanco.
Selena’s post comes hours after the 28-year-old American model appeared in a cover interview for WSJ. Magazine’s Innovator’s Issue published on Tuesday, October 14. In the interview, when she was asked if she feels competitive now that her beauty products will be sold alongside Gomez’s, Bieber replied, “I think there is space for everybody”, according to Page Six.
However, she also slyly added, “I don’t feel competitive with people that I’m not inspired by.” The interviewer further inquired if she was nervous about Sephora shoppers comparing the two brands. But before she could answer, her publicist advised her not to.
Refusing to fan any flames about this alleged rift, Bieber further said in the interview, “It’s always annoying being pitted against other people. I didn’t ask for that. When people want to see you a certain way and they’ve made up a story about you in their minds, it’s not up to you to change that.”
The alleged feud between Gomez and Bieber has been persistently rising over time owing to their history of dating Justin Bieber.
Selena and Hailey met the Love Me singer around 2009, when they were teens. In February 2011, when Gomez and Bieber publicly announced their relationship, Hailey showcased her support for the couple in posts that are now deleted. According to PEOPLE, one of the tweets read, “I’m for sure 100% team #Jelena.”
Gomez and Bieber shared a turbulent relationship, experiencing a couple of breakups initially. During that time, the Canadian singer was rumored to be dating Hailey in December 2014. Although both of them denied these rumors, Justin shared a January 2016 throwback photo almost one year later of him kissing Hailey in St. Barts on New Year’s Eve 2015.
In a conversation with Rolling Stone just a day after Justin shared the picture, Gomez admitted, “Honestly, what I would love to be printed is that I am so beyond done with talking about that, and him.”
Despite the alleged rumors between Gomez and Bieber that have been persistently growing over the years, both female icons have tried to clear the air, sometimes even publicly. In October 2022, they posed for a photo together at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ 2nd annual gala. However, according to Page Six, things seemed to be going downhill between the two of them.
In June, Instagram users pointed out that Bieber and Gomez, who recently got married to Benny Blanco, stopped following each other on the social media platform after following each other in 2023, which was described as a period of peace and harmony.

Hailey, who became a mom to son Jack Blues, addressed these rising feud rumors between her and Gomez as not only “vile” and “disgusting”, but something that could be “really dangerous.”
Speaking to Bloomberg’s The Circuit in June 2023, Hailey said, “I hate it. I’ve hated it since the beginning, and it goes back to being misunderstood. Time and time again, I say there is no issue, and it’s so disappointing that people still behave this way over a man.”
Not only that, but the model also addressed the haters who criticized her marriage. In a conversation with Vogue in a May profile, Bieber was asked if she thought the digital cacophony would eventually subside.
“Well, I thought seven years in it would’ve already, and it hasn’t. You would think after having a child, people would maybe move on, chill out a little bit, but no.”
She later added, “So I guess these bitches are going to be mad.”
Hailey and Justin Bieber got married in 2018, shortly after he and Gomez put an end to their relationship.
