Selena Gomez revealed she planned on adopting a baby at 35, before meeting boyfriend Benny Blanco.
The “Wolves” singer who made her relationship public in December 2023, by calling Blanco, “my absolute everything in my heart,” on a fan account post of the two, wasn’t this lucky in love since always as she wasn’t always sure how her love life will go, which made the singer decide to adopt after reaching a certain age if she doesn’t find someone till then.
During her latest interview for Time Magazine cover story, Selena got candid talking about her plans before she met Benny by saying, “I was alone for five years, and I got really used to it. A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it. Then I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone.”
The “Rare” singer further revealed how she and Benny started dating, by saying that initially, she thought of him as a friend and even asked him to set her up with someone but eventually started liking him. “It just happens when you least expect it,” she said talking about her and Benny.

Selena isn’t the only one in the relationship who plans on having a baby as during a recent interview with Howard Stern, Benny revealed that he wants to start a family with Selena. When the conversation was brought up during her interview, the “Lose You to Love Me” singer laughed and said, “He can’t lie to save his life. If he’s asked a question, he’ll answer it.”
Most of Selena’s fans are happy for the star while some of them trolled the relationship, addressing the incident Selena said, “I know what people can do to people I love. My own fans, who I adore and feel like have shaped who I am, will say the most hurtful things to me about how I live my life. But he has the strength in him that none of that noise fazes him. It’s really impressive, and I just cherish every moment with him. I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know that he’s not going anywhere any time soon.”
The couple often posts snippets of their relationship on the internet, which shows that they’re very happy with where they are in life.
