Read on to find out when will Shadow and Bone Season 2 release on Netflix.

Shadow and Bone Season 1 is an original fantasy series that was met with immediate acclaim when released on Netflix in April 2021. The series is based on two of Leigh Bardugo’s best-selling Grishaverse novel series. It’s hardly surprising that many people want to know when the second season will be released because the show has received appreciation from both the audience and critics alike.

Fans can’t wait for Shadow and Bone Season 2, given that the first season has been on Netflix for a year now. In fact, it has been more than a year since we received word that the second season would indeed be produced.

Will Shadow and Bone Season 2 be released on Netflix in August?

The filming of Shadow and Bone Season 2 has been wrapped up in June 2022, so one should expect the series in August. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The list of Netflix releases for August doesn’t contain Shadow and Bone Season 2.

The production wrap-up of the second season was confirmed by the cast of the show itself, via Twitter. Even though this is fantastic news for production, don’t get overly happy because post-production will take much longer for a program due to the enormous amount of visual effects that need to be added.

Shadow and Bone Season 2 release date

As mentioned previously, the filming has just wrapped up and the series is yet to go through post-production hence, Netflix hasn’t announced any official release date for Shadow and Bone Season 2 as of yet.

According to Netflix Life, there’s a possibility that the show may be released in the late winter of 2022, but it seems doubtful. The Netflix series Shadow and Bone will likely return in 2023 given the first season premiered on April 23, 2021.

What can we expect in Shadow and Bone Season 2?

The Siege and Storm novel will serve as the inspiration for Season 2. Alina and Mal will probably be evading the Darkling in Season 2 of Shadow and Bone, who is out for vengeance and Alina’s power. One of the largest heists in history will require the assistance of The Crows.  Due to the Crows’ absence from the main Grishaverse trilogy, various alterations will be made to the tale in order to incorporate them in some fashion.

In the upcoming season, we’ll also get to know a few brand-new, significant characters.

Shadow and Bone Season 2 cast

The familiar faces in Shadow and Bone Season 2 include Ben Barnes (General Aleksandr Kirigan), Jessie Mei Li (Alina Starkov), Freddy Carter (Kaz Brekker), Kit Young (Jesper), and Amita Suman (Inej), along with Daisy Head (Genya), Danielle Galligan (Nina), Calahan Skogman (Matthias), Sujaya Dasgupta (Zoya), and Archie Renaux (Mal).

Barnes has given a heads-up to fans that his character is going to be a little different on screen when compared to the book.

“I think the character becomes a bit more representative in Alina’s mind of what the darkness is and a bit symbolic, and I wanted to keep him as a human being,” he told Collider in April 2021. “He’s manyfold more powerful, now that he has the walking, living volcra that he can summon and send at his will without even having to use his hands to use magic.”

We will also be seeing a few new faces in the upcoming season. Nikolai Lantsov, who will be portrayed by Patrick Gibson, joins forces with Alina. In the prequel book King of Scars, his character likewise serves as the focal point of the action. Wylan Hendriks, who appeared in Six of Crows as Wylan Van Eck, will be played by Jack Wolfe. Tolya Yul-Battar and Tamar Kir-Battar, the twins, will be portrayed by Lewis Tan and Anna Leong Brophy, respectively.
