Shadow and Bone Season 2 – What’s the update?
Soon after, when Season 1 was released, Netflix announced that the series would be returning for a second season. Since the first announcement, the fans have been eagerly waiting for Shadow and Bone Season 2. To your disappointment, Shadow and Bone is not coming in October 2022. Also, it may not come in 2022 at all. If you were planning to enjoy the fantasy show during the holiday time, you might have to change your mind.
In late September, Netflix conducted its annual event TUDUM. Following the event, it seems difficult to get the second season released in 2022 because the streaming giant made a number of big announcements about some of the most popular series on Netflix. But Shadow and Bone did not get a space for a release update in the event.
Shadow and Bone Season 2 – What’s happening at the backend?
It was announced that filming for Shadow and Bone Season 2 was wrapped in June 2022. So, probably, the show is in the post-production process. Since June, the fans have been eagerly waiting for a release date. At the annual event of Netflix, the streamer delivered a sneak peek into the show without a concrete release date. The sneak peek video just said, ‘COMING 2022.’ With this, we are assured of the fact that Shadow and Bone Season 2 is coming. Shadow and Bone Season 2 – What to expect?
The popular television series Shadow and Bone is based on the popular Leigh Bardugo’s bestselling Grishaverse trilogy. For the second season of Shadow and Bone, Netflix writes, “Dark forces conspire against orphan mapmaker Alina Starkov when she unleashes an extraordinary power that could change the fate of her war-torn world.”
Netflix made the announcement of Shadow and Bone Season 2 on June 7, 2022. Another good news for the fans is that the entire main cast is returning for the second season. We’ll get to see Li, Barnes, Archie Renaux, Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, Kit Young, Danielle Galligan, and Calahan Skogman in Shadow and Bone Season 2. The cast is getting a few new additions – Anna Leong Brophy and Lewis Tan playing twins Tamar Kir-Bataar and Tolya Yul-Bataar; Patrick Gibson playing Alina’s ally Nikolai Lantsov; and Jack Wolfe as Wylan Hendriks, the final crow from Six of Crows. Shadow and Bone Season 2 might pick the plot from the second book in the Shadow and Bone trilogy, Siege and Storm.
If we trace the records and make assumptions, Netflix originals spend between six to eight months in post-production before their release. Since the filming was wrapped in June 2022, the numbers appear to postpone the release to 2023. The earliest release date can be of February 2023. If the editing takes more time, or if Netflix decides to make the audience crazier with waiting time, it may take longer.
To bring the Grishaverse to life, the backend team does a lot of hard work with special effects and sounds to make it look real.
