Shut Down MV Out: BLACKPINK gives past references and nostalgic vibes

The wait is finally over! On September 16, 2022, YG Entertainment, the agency associated with BLACKPINK, finally released the music video for Shut Down. The video opens up with a sense of addictiveness as we get to hear the tunes of Paganini’s ‘La Campanella.’ There is no denying that the track makes us believe that they are the ruling K-pop queens, as the music video shows all the members spending their time together. This time, the group opted for a simple yet effective MV that makes multiple references to the older MVs that gave the BLINKs a little nostalgic feeling.

The music video seems to have beautiful past references to BLACKPINK’s earlier songs, including their debut track BOOMBAYAH, DDU-DU DDU-DU, PLAYING WITH FIRE, Pretty Savage, and others.

The teaser release

For the unversed, the official teaser for Shut Down’s music video was out a little before the main video’s release, and we couldn’t be more excited about the same! The BLACKPINK members Jennie, Rosé, Jisoo, and Lisa, have already given us a sneak peek of what we can expect by the end of this week with the release of the first music video teaser of Shut Down. As suggested by multiple reports earlier, the song adds a plethora of gripping violin tones and classical music that is heard in the background.

BLACKPINK’s pre-release track, Pink Venom, has also been making records ever since its release. Recently, the official music video of Pink Venom surpassed a whopping 300 million views on YouTube. For the unversed, the pre-release track from BORN PINK was released on August 19, 2022, at 1 pm KST. Earlier, the same music video for Pink Venom broke a whopping 90.4 million views on YouTube in just 24 hours.

As for BLACKPINK’s album BORN PINK, it has already surpassed 2 million pre-orders which has made them the first-ever K-pop girl group to have become a double million seller.
