Single Drunk Female Season 2: Is it premiering in January 2023?

Unfortunately, the new series will not return on the network in January 2023, so fans will have to wait a little longer, which is a few months because Single Drunk Female is definitely returning this year!

If you recall, the series was renewed for a second season back in April 2022, which is now confirmed and all set to premiere on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. It is also reported to air on a weekly basis at the time slot 10/9c on Freeform. Additionally, the entire 10-episode second season will be available on Hulu and on-demand platforms the next day, Thursday, April 13, 2023.

The official announcement of the season’s premiere was also confirmed by the star cast on the official Freeform Twitter handle, quoting, “Y’all are so cute, excited to see Sam’s next chapter. Single Drunk Female Season 2 premieres April 12 on Freeform, every episode available next-day on @Hulu.” Take a look at the post below:

Single Drunk Female Season 2: What to expect in the new season?

Rotten Tomatoes reported a 96% approval rating with an average rating of 7.8/10, based on 25 critic reviews. The website’s critics’ consensus reads, “Single Drunk Female‘s clear-eyed chronicle of the challenges of sobriety is a joy, thanks in part to some spiky satire and Sofia Black-D’Elia’s spirited star turn.” Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 76 out of 100 based on 11 critics, indicating “generally favorable reviews.” So, it is obvious that the season is expected to expand the plot further from the first season which showcases a public flame-out at a New York media company forces 20-something alcoholic Samantha Fink to move back home with her overbearing mother; Samantha then sets out on a path to figure out her best self while confronted with remnants of her old life.

“I am thrilled to bring Single Drunk Female back for a second season,” said Freeform President Tara Duncan. “Jenni Konner, Simone Finch, and Daisy Gardner created a series that struck a strong chord in such a sincere and authentic way. I cannot wait to see what they have in store for Sam as she continues on her journey to becoming her best self in Season 2.” Season 2 finds Sam a year and a half into her sobriety journey and finally feeling “like she has a life worth celebrating,” per the official synopsis. “However, Sam quickly learns that sometimes life has other plans for her. Sam must figure out how to effect change where she can, sit in her discomfort when she can’t, and maybe even enjoy the ride.”

The main cast members of the series who are expected to reprise their roles in the new season are as follows Sofia Black-D’Elia as Samantha Fink, Rebecca Henderson as Olivia, Sasha Compère as Brit, Lily Mae Harrington as Felicia, Garrick Bernard as James, and Ally Sheedy as Carol. Ian Gomez has been elevated to series regular as Carol’s boyfriend, Bob. Busy Philipps and Ricky Velez (will recur as new people in Sam’s life, and Charlie Hall will once again recur as Sam’s ex, Joel. As previously announced, Molly Ringwald will guest star as Carol’s sister-in-law Alice. The series comes from 20th Television and is executive produced by Jenni Konner, Daisy Gardner, Simone Finch, John Riggi, Phil Traill, Nora Silver, and Leslye Headland.
