Last week, the American rapper professionally known as Snoop Dogg, 52, took the internet by storm when he randomly shared an Instagram post confirming that, after much consideration with his family, he has decided to give up smoking. This sudden announcement made his fans speculate about the rapper’s decision throughout his career. Snoop has been an avowed cannabis smoker, making it one of the trademarks of his image, as seen in many music videos and other business ventures.

Initially, many weren’t sure about his decision to give up cannabis for good as previously, he didn’t last long before he started smoking weed once again.

Moreover, he has been certified for medical cannabis in California to treat migraines since at least 2007. So, the new post, which has now gathered 4.7 million likes, made fans think about it being a marketing strategy for some promotion or even hinting at a new business venture because a few days ago, he and celebrity chef Martha Stewart released a line of ‘Best Bud Bags’ – designer clutches that come with a lighter and a compartment for weed.

Due to the rising doubts, Snoop later took to Instagram once again by sharing a close-up selfie,  asking his 82.9 million followers to respect his privacy, which made the fans think that maybe this time around, the “Gin and Juice” rapper is being serious and many started to support his decision with one user even commenting, “Y’all do realize snoop is 52 and there is a point in your life when you want to change your life around for the better of your family.”

After a few days of silence, his fans were becoming ambivalent about the statement. However, it appears that there is more to this story than meets the eye. In a surprising turn of events, a few hours ago, the iconic rapper shared a brand new clip on Instagram, and as it turns out, Snoop Dogg’s decision to quit smoking is not just a personal lifestyle choice but rather a strategic collaboration with Solo Stove, a leading brand in innovative fire pits and outdoor gear.

He shared the ad via all his official social media handles, which revealed him promoting a smokeless fire pit, quoting, “I have an announcement, I’m giving up smoke, I know what you’re thinking, Snoop smoke is kinda your whole thing. But I’m done with it. I’m done with the coughing and my clothes smelling all stinky.” He continues, “I’m going smokeless, Solo Stove makes fire. They take out the smoke. Clever.” The promo ends with him chuckling as he roasts a marshmallow on the same stove.

So, all the references related to “Smoke” in his previously shared posts now make a lot of sense!

This is an unexpected partnership that has worked in favor of both the brand and the rapper. Within hours of posting, the campaign was able to make headlines and gather a lot of attention. One Instagram user commented, “To the guy who said ‘imagine if this turned out to be an ad campaign’ on the og post, i seen your comment and your a legend.” The second one said, “Y’all fell for “im done wit smoke” instead of “im done wit smoking”? 😂😂😂😂” A third one said, “Insane level of marketing.”

In addition to this, Solo Stove’s official Instagram handle also shared a behind-the-scenes look at the campaign, quoting, “Anyway, here’s the Snooper Reel.”

This post also gathered many positive comments, appreciating the marketing promo as the rapper’s funny one-liners were enjoyed by the fans. One Instagram follower commented, “Now I know why he was giggling at the end of the commercial 😂” Another one said, “Absolute BRILLIANCE in marketing! Nobody does it better than Solo Stove!” The third one also left a comment stating, “brilliant marketing folks….brilliant. They will be talking about this for years.”
