The part of the journey is the end. Here is everything we currently know about the possibility of
Snowfall Season 7 renewal.
The beloved crime drama series created by John Singleton, which is set in the 1980s Los Angeles crack epidemic, has been a rollercoaster ride for its fans over the last six years. Since its debut in 2017, the show has earned critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base. However, the sixth season ended its run on April 19, 2023, with the premiere of the season’s finale episode, “The Struggle.”
It is already one of the most talked about shows in the FX catalog, as it was for the prior seasons as well!
As the sixth season finale aired a few hours ago, we are certain and have no doubt that the fans will soon start bombarding us with questions about whether the network will renew the show for more seasons or if this is the end. Therefore, if you have the same question, then you have come to the right place! We’ve compiled a quick summary of everything you need to know about the current status of this popular series.
Here’s everything we know so far about Snowfall Season 7.
Snowfall Season 7: Is it renewed or not?
We regret to inform the readers, that the future of the show has come to a definite end after six successful seasons!
Yes, we acknowledge this is some unfortunate news, but we have to clear up all the confusion among the fandom. If you recall, initially, FX, the television network on which Snowfall airs, announced that the show had been renewed for a fifth season. However, in May 2021, the network announced that it would end the series with its sixth season. This news was a blow for both fans and the creators of the show, who had long-term plans for the series.
“To tell a story worth telling, with creative partners you respect and admire, at a network that supports you throughout and allows you to end on your terms. That’s the dream,” said Andron. Further adding, “I am so grateful to everyone at FX from John Landgraf on down and to the entire Snowfall family for helping us get there. If only John Singleton could be with us for the end.”
Moreover, it is worth noting that the lead hero of the show, John Singleton, sadly passed away in 2019. Singleton served as the executive producer and co-creator of Snowfall and played a critical role in shaping the show’s story and direction. His untimely death was a significant loss for the entertainment industry and was genuinely felt throughout the fan community. This is assumed to be one of the reasons why the early conclusion of this beloved crime drama television series happened in the first place.
“I couldn’t imagine telling this story anywhere but at FX,” said Snowfall Producer and star Idris. “I’m incredibly proud of the history we have all made. Especially the impact Snowfall has had on the culture. Very rarely does a TV show get to the sixth season mark and saying goodbye to ‘Franklin Saint’ will be heartbreaking. But the family and relationships I’ve made on this journey will last a lifetime. I know John Singleton is looking down smiling proud.”
On the bright side, there may yet be hope for Snowfall fans! Following the announcement that Snowfall would end after six seasons, discussions began on social media platforms with fans starting an online petition, urging the network to reconsider its decision. The hashtag #RenewSnowfall trended on Twitter, and many fans sent notes of protest to FX. Although the volume of supporters was modest, it demonstrated the solidary of the fan base.
After all the efforts to get the series renewed, it remains unrenewed. As of writing this, we can confirm that FX has not made any official statements about continuing Snowfall for season 7. While the future of the show still hangs in the balance, fans can still relive the previous seasons of the show and speculate on what direction season 7 could take if renewed. So gather your snacks for a binge-watch of previous seasons of Snowfall.
And let’s hope that the creators of the show might be able to secure a deal with FX to keep the story going after seeing the outpouring of love and support the fans have given the show to get renewed for another season, which is a rarity these days, and that these pleas might make the network reconsider their decision. It’s just a matter of time before the series gets an official stamp if it is renewed, and until then, the fans will have to deal with the six seasons and accept the fact that the series has ended for good.

Snowfall Season 6: What happened in the final season?
The series chronicled how an off-the-books CIA operation contributed to the destruction rock cocaine leveled upon the vibrant community of South Central L.A. The official description of the season follows: It’s October 1986 in this sixth and final season, as civil war threatens to destroy the Saint family. Franklin (Damson Idris) is desperate and forced to rob his Aunt Louie (Angela Lewis) and Uncle Jerome (Amin Joseph) after being wiped out by former CIA officer Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson).
Meanwhile, Louie has taken over Franklin’s role as Teddy’s sole buyer, undercutting her nephew and creating a competing empire in the process. Franklin is now faced with losing everyone he loves and everything he’s built, and coming through it all will mean out-maneuvering the KGB, the DEA, and the CIA, as well as avoiding the LAPD’s fully militarized, fully corrupt, C.R.A.S.H units. When everyone has their backs against the wall, who will they become in order to survive?
West Coast, we know it's gon' be hard to say goodbye, but at least it'll be memorable.
