Space Force is an American workplace comedy streaming television series created by Greg Daniels and Steve Carell for Netflix. Despite its massively brilliant cast and crew, Space Force appears to be having narrative and critical response challenges even after two seasons in the franchise.

The fans were excited to see the next installment, but the wait and journey to eventually binge-watch the series proved to be short-lived and disappointing since it has been officially revealed that the series has been discontinued entirely.

Here’s all we’ve known about Space Force Season 3 so far.
Will there be Season 3 of Space Force?
Since the news of Netflix losing subscribers, it seemed that they might be slowing down in canceling major series on their streaming services, but as of today, it appears that the contrary is true, as Space Force has been canceled by Netflix despite having two seasons in the franchise and having a fairly good viewership and reception on the platform for the genre of series it is included in the vast catalog of the streaming platform.

The comedy series which was inspired by the Trump administration’s development of the Space Force, centered around a group of persons tasked with forming the sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces, the Space Force.
Over the course of two seasons, the series had attracted a large number of admirers, and they intended to explore these characters further in future installments.

This is devastating news because the second season ended on a cliffhanger that will not be addressed due to the cancellation of Space Force Season 3, and those who invested so much time in watching the series will now be unable to bid adieu to these cherished characters with a proper series concluding storyline.

I just got into Space Force a couple of weeks ago and now it’s cancelled 😫 who wants to watch shows if they’ll only get cancelled before getting an ending? Netflix is really shooting themselves in the leg with all of this

Disappointed in @netflix for cancelling #SpaceForce. It's very frustrating that Netflix does seem to have long term plans for stories, to give the audience closure. This was a great show and now I feel discouraged from investing myself into new series.https://t.co/Ri2LJdJeBE

Was there ever going to be Space Force Season 3?
The series did leave a significant cliffhanger in the final episode of Season 2, with the squad reuniting in the final scene. They come to see a massive speeding asteroid heading towards Earth as they gain access to Hawaii’s powerful space satellite.

To relax, they begin to sing Kokomo by the Beach Boys. This ending reveals that the show’s creators were undoubtedly hoping for another season if the show got picked up by Netflix. Unfortunately, the network has now cut it short due to the abrupt cancellation, and the fans will not be able to get the ending that they truly deserve.
Why did Netflix cancel Space Force Season 3?
According to Deadline, the series has had funding challenges in previous seasons because it is a costly show that requires resources to complete production and delivers the content with the greatest outcomes.
Furthermore, when a network invests significant money in a series, it must deliver in terms of viewership, performance, and critical acclaim throughout the streaming platform amid the enormous catalog in order to stand out and be renewed for the next season.

For some time now, Space Force has been dealing with serious concerns with the development and narrative of the series, which has resulted in its cancellation.
The sitcom was renewed for a second season, and production was relocated to Vancouver to save money. One of Daniels’ longtime colleagues, Norm Hiscock, agreed to join as co-showrunner to help rework the show creatively. Despite the adjustments, the response to season two was dismal, especially given the cost and talent attached to the series.

The decision on the series cancelation comes two and a half months after Season 2 was released on February 18, 2022. It did not make the overall streaming weekly Top 10 list, but it did make a brief cameo in the streaming originals charts, entering at No. 8 and rising to No. 7 the following week.
It also had a brief appearance in Netflix’s Daily Top 10 Ranking, peaking at roughly No. 5 following Season 1’s prolonged reign at No. 1.

Hence these factors also contributed to the series canceling and not renewing for another installment along with several other Netflix original programs that have been canceled this month, including Raising Dion and Pretty Smart earlier this week.
What could have been the plot of Space Force Season 3?
As stated above, the series’ final episode indicated Naird and his team detected a massive asteroid headed toward Earth, leaving the gang unable to think of anything other than singing ‘Kokomo’ by The Beach Boys to keep calm. Now it’s a matter of figuring out how to prevent it before it’s too late, given that it’s on a direct course for Earth. It’s not a huge deal.

In Space Force Season 3, viewers would have probably seen Angela and Chan’s relationship evolve, as well as Naird attempting to juggle his personal and professional lives as things heat up. Erin will almost certainly be sorting out a life for herself as she graduates from high school, and Captain Lancaster will almost certainly be questioning how he’s expected to go back to Earth without going insane.
